If I understand the original posts, Captain came down on several trips in a motorhome, and on one trip he was left behind by his owner?

Taken from the original email and post:

"Captain was abandoned by his Canadian dad who has a place at gecko camp."

I don't know any more details.

We are moving to a new place later this month and might be able to give him a foster home until he can find a new family. My fiancee works at the Humane Society here in San Diego, so we definitely have resources to find a home for him....and if we end up falling in love with him then he can live with us!

Geoff - can you keep us informed regarding this beautiful dog. I want to know how he makes out. Abandoning an animal is incredibly cruel and makes me ashamed that this dog was left behind by a fellow canadian.

I have contacted the person who has Captain......hopefully I'm on the "short list" right after "24baja".

He will make a great companion for Libbie.

Captain deserves a home!

The line for this pooch should be around the block. We have three dogs, but the yellow lab here (Sadie) is exceptional. These animals are loving, loyal, protective...and they listen to you!

Good job P., why the heck didn't I think about posting here to find Captain a home????????? DUH!

Captain is a really great and loving soul. I spent about 3 months with him sleeping at the end of my bed with my pup.

For the record, he is older than he looks, he is about 10 or 11yrs. but in good heath, no hip dyspalsa (sp?) that I could dedect, as is common in Labs.....

I have been in contact with his "Dad" and there seems to be more to the story of Captain being "abandoned" "Dad" is sick, which I knew when he left Bahia in the RV with Captain, they had a roll-over accident in the RV on the way back to Canada for Dr appt.s "Dad" had to travel north and wasn't able to take Captain with him at the time, the lady that he had left him with was moving or whatever and couldn't keep him, any longer so she brought him to Bahia looking for "Dad" (what a great person to do that for him) that is how he came to be with Paulina's "friend" She and her family are moving to the mainland in June and no longer able to take care of Captian........hence the need for a home for him. I told the "friend" and "Dad" that I am prepared (God willing) to bring him home with me as a last resort of I can, and he hasn't found a home yet........but, seems, thanks to Paulina's great thinking he has many good parents willing to take him in and give him the love he deserves..........he is a great dog and will give his new family much more than he takes.

PS: Not nice Soulpatch

This is a great story!

Now, how about those two dogs in La Paz who need a ride to Alberta?
And remember Spook, the black cat of Asuncion?

Can we help them out, too?
and any and other wonderful Baja animal?

Captain was hanging out with us the past 10 days - he got all of our dog-friendly scraps. I can vouch that he is a really great dog.

The transport team is in place: bajaguy, beachbum1a, and bajamigo. We will ensure safe passage to his happy and loving new home.
