Very good question. For the past 3 events I personaly have been hesitant to receive moneys because of the posibility of someone questioning the use of
funds. We have always set up a Paypal account because some donors prefer to send funds and let us purchase gifts or food and thank God for that
because since the first event, even thou we were donated a bus, we had to pay for the Diesel and driver, we picked up some of the tab for the tamales
and then some transportation to get folks from San Ysidro to Tijuana and back that came. For the Ensenada event we were blessed with the Punta Banda
Nomads taking care of food for all of the kids and adults that attended and the Hotel Pueblo Amigo donated the Roscas, last year, we had no food for
the children, all we could get was a donation for the Rosca de Reyes from Donas Venecia and thankfully Mexicoach sponsored the bus.
The moneys we have received have been a lot of help in the past and we have a couple of Nomads that are always there for that, but it's not many, they
can be counted with one hand.
Now this year from the first post we placed the paypal.com with the email address of toydrive2010@ultimatebaja.com because of the fact that we have not confirmed buses nor food donors and we
have way over double the ammount of children than in previous years and we want to make it a memorable trip for them since it will be in Rosarito.
https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cmd=_render-content&c...
So, yes, we need a lot of toys, toys that we need to slowly bring down to Mexico because of customs rules ad the kind people at Jackson Hewitt in
Chula Vista are once again helping us with the drop off location.
Last year we purchased 20 Dolls and 4 cases of miniature cars and trucks because we didn't have enough toys so the money was used wisely.
I don't know if I've answered the question but yes, we need some funds.
This is not a disaster like a hurricane or a death or a sickness of a known person. It is just 257 needy children that have been adopted in the name
of the people that participate in Baja Nomad that otherwise would probably not get anything for this holiday season.
We have never advertised or posted on other boards but this year we did on 3 others, keeping the name Baja Nomad Dia de Reyes Toy Drive, on talkbaja,
baja4ms and baja artists. and I would like to thank them for their help with that.
Saludos y gracias

Ferna: can the bicycles by gently used or is new the way to go for this event? I presume that all gifts need to be unwrapped? Do you need wrapping
paper, ribbon or do you buy that with the donations.

Dia de Reyes 2007
Here are some of the pictures I took. I think they show the joy that those gifts gave to those children that Christmas! I'll never forget that day.

Wow, that's alot of kids!
I have a kid's bike. It was my son's. Maybe for a 8-10 boy.
I guess I'll need to visit you FDT.
I'll meet you at Sanborn's near the Hili. They have a comfortable lounge!
Anybody else got a
kid's bike they can give?
I might even try to use my PayPal. I have an account but haven't used it for a while.

Ferna, I may be going to TJ this weekend to have bodywork done on my son's car (don't ask). Perhaps transport some bikes/toys at the same time?
