1 1/2 oz fishtrap for the combo.

The old cedar plug has many fans and i am among them! for trolling it would be a fine choice.

Now for casting...i'm with baitcast, give me a kastmaster spoon.

Do you yoyo a Fishtrap? I never thought of that. Thought they were for slow trolling.

Swimbaits

They're not my favorite yet but so far I've done real well with them. They work well casting or trolling (slowly).

Since I'm stuck up here I've been stocking a new tackle box. So far it's shore fishing stuff only. Can't imagine only having one favorite.

For casting I use lots of the currently out-of-business Megabaits. Cast, let them drop, retrieve, pause and let them drop.... River To Sea makes a suitable replacement called a Sea Rock but they're hard to find, and I'm trying P-Line's copy but they are expensive. Krocs are my second choice.

Then there's yo-yo and deep jigging. I don't really have a favorite right now.

Trolling

1. Shallow water, reefs...I like the Yozuri rapala types, blue.

2. Offshore, dorado, tuna. I'm using plain cedar plugs a bunch, but still troll "feathers." Plastic skirted ones, and I'm not yet picky about brand, head shape or colors. Just don't fish them enough. And I've had some good luck with Marauder type stuff lately.

There,s lures that are most effective and than there are those that are the most fun both on the beach and off.

No question about it but top-water is the most fun,big and small Spooks and various poppers.

If you haven,t tryed top-water yet your missing a ton of fun.
Rob

Anyone can catch fish with a boat but only El Pescador Grande can get them from the beach.

When I was in Panama last year we used Yozuri Surface Bull poppers a lot and caught many different kinds of fish with them. Even caught a 200+ lb Tuna with it, quite a workout on a spinning rod, for everybody on the boat.

Russ

How in the world do you keep your tackle box so clean and organized?

No matter which lure you decide is the most likely to succeed, there will be some days when no fish will have anything to do with it while there may be an old relic in the bottom of your tackle box that would be just the ticket, if only you could figure out which one......
Here are some in action that have consistently worked for me in recent years for pelagics on both sides of the peninsula.
