Business as usual in San Felipe. Highway 5 is open and normal traffic including trucks and buses are getting through. A few broken windows in town. Nothing major.

There are large fissures and huge cracks in the road. But you know Mexico. That doesnt stop anything. For them its just another obstacle to go around. Thats why I love this place. I just had some great photos sent to me. I will send them to David K and maybe he can post them.

Well great. I´m in BOLA and will be driving up Mex 5 to get home in a few days. Hope they get the road fixed before then. Otherwise, it´s all just another Baja adventure.

I made the drive to San Felipe from Los Angeles on Wednesday. I came across at the east border in order to bypass downtown Mexicali and any possible delays. The drive all the way to San Felipe was easy-peasy....no problems whatsoever.....the road conditions just south of Mexicali, at ground zero were no worse than the road was many years ago.

I am leaving Ensenada on Monday and driving to Tecate and taking the toll road toward Mexicali, then taking 5 south to hook up with the new road going to Puerto Penansco, does anyone know if there are any problems with the roads in going thay way?
Thanks for your help!

We left San Felipe yesterday, crossed at the East Crossing in 31 minutes at about 4:00 P.M. There is road damage but very passable. There is a relief center in La Puerta. We dropped off our left over water and food from the trip. I wish we had more to give. If any of you are going down it is on the west side of the highway next to the fire station. They can take the usual relief supplies. I'm sure shovels, gloves, boots and 5 gallon buckets would be a great thing also.
