SOME repairs are underway on the TOLL ROAD; but it all south of the worst part of the road! From Rosarito (south) to Ensenada, they've been working on it this week and it's very passable...north of that from TJ to Rosarito, keep a vehicle in front of you and watch what happens.....Free Road is still a disaster area.

Have adopted driving the posted speed limit for sure, and when a vehicle is in front... I stay at least 10 car length behind.. too close.. and "wham" a "pit" will show up...

We had been thinking that the really bad holes around Gavitos, which the wife nickname the "Gavitos Pits" were allowed to develop to create work for the auto repair industry in Rosarito ..

But, now with the "explosion" of bad pot holes to true "pits" .... just day before yesterday we ran up to the Consulate in TJ and used the toll road, just to keep the "pit" factor down a bit.. it's still not perfect on the toll either , but a bit better than the old road south of Rosarito...

Happy driving, and keep it slow.. you get better gas mileage and you can see a lot more "pits" before your wheels do ...

Unless the roadway has rapidly worsened in the last week here are my observations:

Toll Road:

One small section of approximately 1 mile, beginning about 1 mile south of the Rosarito toll plaza and ending just before Califia is potholed. Lanes affected are both North and Southbound. The rest of the tollway is in good shape, both North of Rosarito and South to Ensenada.

Free Road:

From Fox Studios to the Puerto Nuevo exit the road is Pure Crap. Not only severely potholed but lane dividers are nonexistent. Do Not take this road unless you are familiar and never at night. South of the Puerto Nuevo exit the road is almost fully completed to Primo Tapia and in good shape. From Primo Tapia South to la Fonda the road is also good.

As of yesterday, "South of the Puerto Nuevo exit the road is almost fully completed to Primo Tapia and in good shape." it was being cut into again for repairs already.... down to 2 lanes then.. but hey it's paved....
