IMO a lot of the older ( time active on the Nomads not necessarily age) Nomads may have run their course with new adventures in Baja. Using myself as example I seem to run the same type adventures over and over. Don't get the wrong idea, I'm doing what I like. It just seems a bit boring after it been covered a few times. So we really need to have the new members, the one that we old guys/gals have tried to encourage with our adventures to tell us and the even new members about their experiences. Come on you young chit$ start typ'n!:tumble:

My way of saying I miss the old Dennis. That's just me.

[Edited on 5-9-2010 by Osprey]
Osprey, sometimes I have trouble differentiating between your factual & fictional posts!;) Since this one is brief, I'm reading it as sincere utterings.

Respectfully, I'd like to offer up that I sincerely doubt that "WE ((most)) WON'T SHARE HOW WE FEEL FOR FEAR WE MIGHT OFFEND"....on the contrary, I feel than many lurkers won't share/post because they read too many posts attacking/ridiculing/name calling other members. Same for the lack of participation of long time or former posters.

IMO, Baja Nomad has lost its former essence of helpful, sharing & sincere good camaraderie & I feel that's due to a relative small number of posters....a few (okay, maybe 1!) of which are/is permanently banned....until they reinvent themselves under a new alias!:(; some who are evidently in time-out:bounce: & alas, a small number who remain that seem to thrive on negativity & animosity.:(

IMO, it's sad that a few schoolyard bullies have been allowed to drive so much valuable knowledge & experience off the site & intimidate a potential infusion of new blood from public participation....for fear of being a target for blood sports!:(

Evidently "agreeing to disagree" & doing it respectfully is a lost art!

As others have stated, I deplore the negativity & sniping! When someone posts a genuine request for help or information, for the most part, I've taken to going underground & U2U'ing, despite the fact that I believe others might potentially benefit from the knowledge & experiences I have to share.

IMO, the screwing around even on serious threads has gotten totally out of hand, as has the intentional misspelling of foul language to slide under the profanity checker radar. I personally would like to see Doug enforce his posted site rules....or modify them to what he allows in reality. And last, but not least, I sincerely miss the site having a second moderator to help Doug keep this a friendly, helpful & comfortable place to visit.

Hola, when i first signed on and in " CAPS " i was blasted and not greeted by many of the posters here and i did not think that i could leave without pursuing things further. since, i believe i have contributed to a site that can enhance ones baja experiences. i just said to myself, f*** em, either right or wrong. it's a very good website of all things baja and i do enjoy the verbal intercourse with the exception of political and religous issues as i have most of my adult life. one can never win and can lose valuable friendships due to ones stance on the those particular issues !

also, too many apologies bring to light a persons offensive and inappropriate nature of comments without validation. however, open forums do bring into it many varied opinions, founded or not.

perhaps it''ll bring into mexico a free speech amendment ????? i doubt it !!!!

A POV for Dennis

A polarized forum? Nomads friends or potential friends have been pseudo-divided by politics. Many people have been categorically dissed by the fierce and hateful words pasted across so many threads.

In takes a strong constitution to engage and defend ones' personal opinion against such strong words and authority. . How far will someone go defending that opinion is soon found out.

Most folks get seasoned rather quickly these days or plain just don't post. They are intimidated for sure. Internet savvy bullies lurk around every post though waiting to pounch if someone makes the mistake of crossing that proverbial line.

Then there are the minions and sheeple alike waiting alongside these dominate voices to echo the sometimes vicious and degrading remarks, perhaps for nothing in their minds.

So I currently find this politically motivated behavior disgusting and unworthy of social credit. Doug did not do his job to moderate in my opinion. You said it early on and repeatedly I think...... "end the thread"

Now it's too late for these people who for years had my respect and always the benefit of doubt. It's sad when people have to pull out their dirty laundry. I think they have regressed or something. I have never seen this behavior like the recent stuff.

It's like they don't GAF what rolls off their fingers. They mock other Nomads and their neighbors at the same time. Friggin' unAmerican imo, friggin' unpatriotic to lay blame and point fingers at each other. Tiring.

The failure to rectify or solve important global issues are epitomized here in this forum.

Therefore, what can I say, except that there are a few over-animated and non-selfcensoring individuals who smear the board with ugly words. It may be entertaining for for a few(obviously) but for most of the audience, they gave up food-fights decades ago.

Another observation might be that attrition and the reluctance of liberals'(aka "the weakminded") to fight border politics here in this forum has taken its' toll.

It's a Republican forum and no room for liberal thinkers it seems to have become. Look how far DK has gone and he's a man of peace!

I've never seen so many looking for a fight since partying in San Pedro 40 years ago. :wow:

Get over it people, the enemies are NOT in our country.

The good the bad and the ugly.. whether here on BN's or any other place where one attempts to make a point... it's always the same.. that's the way it is, just about any place where there is a difference of opinion

Always like the video of the South Korean Government, where they are throwing chair's, mike's, shoes and anything else they could get their hands on... many more examples.. around the world.. of social intercourse at its best....

We in the States have really toned it down over the years.... me personally, always thought "dueling" was a really good idea... kinda takes the edge off statements one will think about making..

Verbal.. yeah I get a bit pixxed at a few here, but what you gonging to do... just try and post something which WORKS .....

In a few posters cases, there is no hope... they use the same techinque everytime.. personal attack on the maker of any point made in crude and mean spirted manner..... well, guess what... they showed there colors... and there total lack of civility in normal discourse between people, irreguardless of their color, nationality, politics and religion

One thing about being a jerk... those never change.. and their attempts at make valid points which would really allow for positive change are shown for what they really are..

A fight over immigration, is valid...... the first point is the legal question, and the lack of enforcement is the sticking point... if the law is not workable.. it must be ENFORCED to the letter of the law to factually determine if the "LAW" will not work and needs change.

Talking in general terms about all the side issues is not the way, and coupled with the "trolls" from hell, this forum will not develop anything in the way of a solution, if that was the point of the thread.... for this thread.... glad to see so many folks that would appear to be very balanced in there overall approach... thanks, as I know most out there are really quite good folks.....

And for what its worth, don't think anyone has to yet "meet" and continue the discussion to a different beat... have offered .... but .... it does not seem to be many are really into at this point in life...

For all that have put up with my posts and ramblings... that's they have never been intended to be hurt full and was only trying to add something positive to a discussions which I have found very interesting...

I like the board here and most everyone who post... even Goat.. may not like many of his posts.. but, must say he keeps the cobwebs dusted out of this old brain pan to so degree...

Thanks to all.... I like it even with all the hair... and getting slashed up by a few is worth it..... have learned a lot here and have made some off and online friends in the few months I have been posting on the board

Also, for Doug... let is go and follow it's natural course... those who do not wish to participate... don't have too... let those that want and like to go at it..... go at it... just love MrBillM and Goat going at it... they are great... used to think it was personal... they both have fun, cutting and slashing at each other... and some of their cuts are classic... as some one said above... it is Baja .... can I buy you a beer?

Sharks, Since I have never gone to the Off Topic section of the forum I haven't gotten into any serious political discussions but posts about politics and that special section for it make me think there are really two forums.

I just stay on the Baja side and I like it here. Like Russ I don't travel much anymore and I try very hard not to retell the old stale stories of Baja in the Good Ole Days. That said, I can and do argue quite handily and call people names over their preferrences in yogurt with fruit in it.

While I am a relative newcomer to this forum, I have never thought of this forum as a Republican forum. Is it?

This forum is the best source of information about any and everything pertaining to Baja available. Very thankful for all the helpful Nomads who continue to share their adventures and photos. When the topics drift into the realm of opinion? Look out! But that's OK also. Liberal? Conservative? I want to wish all you Mothers a happy Mothers Day.

I think its good people are allowed their own opinion here on this board! There are several others that you dare not breathe a personal opinion as people receive it as a personal threat!
Not to even mention how much good info comes from this forum!!IMPO!!:):)

I totally agree. The latest so called political thread should have been in off-topic where most of us don't venture.

It was not an issue where it is easy to agree to disagree---because it was not just a political issue, but it said a lot about who people are---about their basic humanity.

I know I was accused of being bitter, but as I stated, I was seriously more disappointed by some, and disgusted by others. I can and do differ politically with friends on political issues and can agree to disagree, but this was not about a policy.

Off-topic is there for a reason, and perhaps more threads should be moved there.
