It's tough driving up there, Wiley. I lived in Rosarito, but that was ten years ago so it's like all new to me. The tough part is trying to find a business while having to pay strict attention to the traffic, the all but hidden stop signs, and pot-holes. Oh, yeah....keeping an eye out for police cars too.
Oh, well...I'll get the hang of it.

Anybody know where the police station is? I was a guest there for a few days and was anticipating a big rush of nostalgia, but it seems to have moved.

it was about 5 street north of the south end of town-25 years ago. the south end of town has expanded so the station is probably in the middle of town by now!

good on ya, Big D!!!

That's about what I remember as well. I couldn't have just missed it. I would for sure have seen some police cars, but didn't. They must have relocated.
I'll find it.
Thanks, Woody.

At the very least, let's have a round of applause for Dennis. Some folks around here may have from time to time felt either intimidated or even threatened by him. (Happens when someone is very intelligent and has a wild sense of humor) But the bottom line is that if someone is in a tough situation, Dennis can always be relied upon to help. Kudos, Dennis.

I didn't do anything, Howard, but thanks. All I really did was take a nice drive to Rosarito. I was due for that anyway. Now I don't have to do it again for a few years.

Dennis, I Really Heart Your Kind Efforts

I am not surprised by the "Don't Know Nothing." response and the unwillingness to put up the poster.

The prevailing attitude is, "Why get dragged into a gringo problem?"

I give you all kudos and my good heart thoughts to you for trying.

Maybe someone who didn't want to be identified will contact you later.

Dennis,

Thought I would give a bit of an update to Mat & Missy, we did speak to an immigration agent in TJ yesterday and was told that without a US Passport they would not be able to travel below San Quintin and neither of them had passports so if this information is true from the immigr. agt. then does that not narrow our search area to north of there?

We also went to some agency CAPEA where the immigr. agt. sent us to file a missing persons report but they were closed until monday so we did not complete that mission.

Also a friend of a friend went to the Atty. Gen. in Ensenda yesterday and filed a report there and I have a case # but can't seem to locate it at 5:30am but when I do i will post it.

I know many of you have spent your time and money helping us and I want to be able to reimburse any of you for that, just not sure how to go about it. You folks have BIG Hearts and are extremely kind and compassionate.

Morning, Tim....... Sounds as though you,ve been busy.
One thing first...don't post your case number. Send it to LL by U2U.

The travel limitation would probably be due to the fact they would need a passport to get a Tourist Permit. That would surmise their travel would be limited in range. I thought the line was farther north than that.
Mat and Melissa would also know of the need for a passport to re-enter the country, which they are supposed to have done earlier on foot.
Knowing the requirments as they must have, are they the types to test the system, twice?
Are we still assuming they are in Mexico?

They don't seem the type to invite confrontation with border agents.

I don't think this ordeal has cost anybody here anything, Tim. Forget it.

Just to my knowing....there is a military check-point between Tecate/Ensenada....Ensenada/?.....San Quintin/El Rosario....Guerrero Negro/....and several more points South. These young soldiers are usually very interested in cars and dogs because that is all they have for entertainment so I am sure they would remember this car and couple. They never ask me for my passport or even my FM3. They may ask others.

Dennis,

Right now we can only assume they crossed into mex. on the 23rd because of the insurance they bought. When we exited yesterday I spoke to the customs agent who told me they had all been briefed and was aware and that all crossings on alert for them so if they cross he said they will be taken to secondary and we will be notified and so far this hasn't happened.

Of course they could be in the US but CHP has been notified and there is a nation wide missing persons alert for them, and the car, and thus far they have not had any contact with US law enforcement that we're aware of.

Would they tempt fate by not having a passport, you would think not, but then again, they haven't done anything by the book so I can't say.

Trying everything we know to do and in *good* contact with LL ;-)

Tim,

In the McStay family case they pulled the video at the border crossing and got volunteers to review it. I know your case doesnt involve minor children, but perhaps you could ask your police contact if they could obtain the video at least so you'd have it.

Grasping at straws here...if its not a good idea other ppl here will surely speak up. :D
