I just got home and have not read any post since last night. I will post this read the old stuff and put this away. We will not change David or his ways, He will never even try to see another side.

David. You say that I'm not a giving person. In the last 12 months I have made 3 trips to TJ taking stuff to The Sister of Mercy. I have taken plastic and staples to the Colonia south of Maneadero to help out the people living in the casa de cardboard. Lots of stuff to the orphanages in and above Ensenda. Helped with funds and food to those that needed it. The most personalty rewarding was 4 days with Habitat for Humanly helping someone have a casa.

What have you done to help anybody in Baja. With the way you post about your trips. I thought you might have given somebody something, gone out of your way to help a local. It seems incongruous that you wouldn't post about it. I could be very wrong but I don't remember anything. Please tell us what you have done to help a local?
Taken something to Coco?
Anything?
Or have sat in front of a screen and posted here, calling that help?
That's the kind of help Baja needs, let me pat you on the back!

I read the old post for this edit. This was never about surf points, you just don't get it.

There are all kinds of giving... I am talking about giving to Nomads who come here to read and enjoy Baja trips... Give us some Baja trip reports... that kind of giving.

Dirt roads on old maps are what my post was... giving some visual aid to a Nomad who asked me to... It is just a dirt road... "we" is just who? I have been a Nomad since 2002, and you joined knowing what this forum is about... Perhaps your attitude about censorship needs changing? I removed the satellite images... but, there is no pleasing you I guess... not that I should have to.. But, I really do and try and make friends here... Keeping secrets to something that is not a secret (such as the above dirt road) is pretty rediculous, IMO.

This post is insane. hard to believe people ask endless questions on this board about Gonzaga, BOLA, Tackle, fishing areas etc etc and get very generous information.

Then, they dont like some info shared about this road. Its not exactly a shortcut to the sisters and is in all likelihood so rough it was removed from the AAA map.

Someone who really loves the sisters would encourage the use of the road because it looks like it could ruin a rookie's surf trip.

I sure hope you guys paddled out today and got an attititude adjustment. I know I did. With all the Internet forecasting of this swell I caught more than my share of 6-8' pounding surf on an 85 degree Santa Ana day.

I would guess there might be people that know more about Baja than DK , but who widely shares as much as him?

I could care less about his politics and any other beliefs. His experience, knowledge, generosity, map work and meticulous attention to detail are a great asset to this board.

What does he "give" to baja? He contributes to giving travelers the confidence to travel baja and these travelers stimulate the economy.

I, for one ,appreciate his work and feels he is approaching Baja map guru status

Nothing wrong with asking questions and nothing wrong with people sharing information.

Tourist zones? ... you haven't been reading my trip reports.

But, like you, I dont share everything about my "secret spots".

Totally agree with you Curt; David has been really helpful to me, too, and I am so appreciative of his efforts. Every trip to Baja I take, I'm reminded again and again that the people down there appreciate our business; buying things in stores, eating in restaurants, etc. If David helps us with information and gives us a reason to go down there, it helps the economy, which is a welcome boost to the locals. Frankly, people who vist this board are, by definition, people who love Baja and really want to learn more about it. This year will mark 31 years for me traveling to Baja and I'm still learning about it, even more with David's help. Please keep up the good work; there are a lot of us quiet Nomads out here who really appreciate it.

i guess i'm a hypocrite! i asked for info and where to spend my time and $ in a tourist area (BOLA, Gonzaga) as it's full of gringos already, over run with them, some might say.

i fear the other side becoming more like it every day. good roads=more people, good and bad. as of today i am giving up my role as "culero on a single track" not because i'm not one-i am, but because it's like trying to plug a leaky dyke:light:.... it never ends good.

it's not that it's just not worth it....WILDCOAST has done a remarkable job protecting the area from exploitation and i'll continue to help them monetarily. we know 4 generations of locals (LUV ya Elsa!) who all share their kitchen and lives with us whenever we show up, although we show up much too infrequently, for them and us!

some folks will never concede their point of view, or take into consideration someone else's view point, no matter what. who cares right?

life goes on......

Thanks... they are just dirt roads afterall... the worse they are the better I like 'em... and then the 'best people' will be the only ones who get through! Too bad some feel there should be censorship between us on Nomad... like some secret soceity? If they don't want to share with their friends here, THAT IS FINE... But if they don't want to see a road conditions post, because it happens to go west of Hwy. 1, between El Rosario and Guerrero Negro, then don't read it if it bothers you.

The 1975 Baja 1000 used that very road I posted maps of... I bet you guys didn't use it before then, yet you liked what you saw enough to go back... But to think only you guys know about it or use it is pretty fantastic, wouldn't you agree?

Now, try and have a nice day...

WELL!! This has been an exciting thread!! I have learned at least two things:

Who to ask and who not to ask for information and;

There does not appear to be any administration of this forum to keep things civil (I hope this post will not bring a personal attack.)

Thanks amigos...

I am not trying to upset anyone, but jeepers, I didn't even mention that 'secret' place or even give a GPS or mileage to the coast! It is just an old dirt road that happens to go west from Hwy. 1 that someone wanted to use to save some miles getting to his destination.

I see the crude reply was removed (in the name of good taste), and I am sorry that helping one beach loving Nomad would bother others. You guys have to understand that it is a big place, and after 50 years in books and maps, anything I show on Nomad isn't going to suddenly open floodgates of surfers that will crowd out your surf break. It will be the good roads Mexico has built into the area you need to be upset at, not the Jeep track I showed above. Peace!

My rant was spewing information never about a the sisters. I should have used a Sea of Cortez post.
I believe that you should find you own Adventure and experience the joy of discovering for yourself. Detailed directions take from from the experience. IMHO. Ask me u2u about any place and I will help if I can.
Some of use prefer to do our own heavy lifting.
I will be in the minority here and except that.

Hi Mike. Welcome. I'm a butthead too. I just had my 25 year cake last week...and am feeling strong. I am better able to manage my urges....one step at a time. Remember ....every time you point at someone, three fingers are pointing back at yourself. Thanks for sharing. :saint:

Rachel, darling...welcome aboard; hope you enjoy the ride. This place is somewhat self-regulating....people run out of breath or interest after a period of hurling chunks of chollo at one another. Some moderators sweep up from time to time, while others are simply ground down or banished. There is a bit of a First Amendment thing happening: shoot from the lip, smoke 'em if you have 'em, and STFU....next post....

I doubt you will get flamed, but a few reprobates might ask you for a picture....darling ;D

I can't speak for David, but it CERTAINLY would never have occurred to me that ANYBODY would have been annoyed with somebody for trying to help with info on Baja that is NOT readily available--------after 55 years of camping in baja I am still constantly learning things from David K that I doubt I would have ever learned on my own, and that is so neat.

David K is the main reason I watch this board, so no, I don't understand why anybody would get upset with David.
