Where did it go? Is it in orbit? Given the known trajectory and speed, where might it have come down?
Are we under attack in a scenario reminiscent of "The Mouse That Roared?"
Is Peter Sellers behind this?

I want answers.

The launch we watched (it was publicized) was an Italian satellite and I assume it made it to orbit.

The mystery launch a few days later might have been a target for an anti-missle missile down the Pacific Missile Range.

I think Slim Pickens pushed the wrong button and rode it into orbit while waving his cowboy hat.

Mystery Missile Musings

I saw that Old Oriental Science guy who looks like an aged White-Haired Hippy who's always doing Discovery Channel segments and he said he thought it was probably a Jet and the conditions caused something of an optical illusion that he's seen before but he's probably nowhere near as smart as your average Nomadian Pontificator of speculation, so he's not to be believed.

On thing he said that mitigated against it being a military launch was that the direction was wrong.

But, what are his credentials, anyway ? I'd check with JoeBlow and Loco before I made a decision.

They're in on the KNOW.

Don't be so impatient. Everybody is in such a hurry today to hear or to scoop.... "The News". It's like we need instant gratification..rather than any actual facts.

Condensation trail from a jetliner. Optical effects due to sunset behind. Sunlight glinting off plane, etc. Mystery over.

Shades of Rosewell.

It's all in the Perspective

Sort of like those optical illusions they publish in the Science Mags.

I saw a followup up with Old Hippie Sci Guy Kaka, Kuku, kuka ?
Oh yeah, Michio Kaku. He pointed out that, looking at the two-dimension photo, we "assume" that the contrail we're looking at has a near vertical trajectory, BUT if your assumption is that it is more horizontal, that looks right, too. The mind plays tricks. Additionally, the feature that mitigates AGAINST a Ballistic device of some sort (beyond the direction) is that the velocity of the object remains steady rather than accelerating, something not apparent in the still-photo, of course.

But, I'm sure that the groups who believe in encounters of the weird kind are positive it's an alien visitation and equally sure that the Conspiracy Buffs are sure it's some evil plot by the Mochas to achieve some dark end.

Given that the military launches stuff ALL the time and refuses to say why or what's on board for security reasons, you'd have to ask why this would have been any different if they'd done it ? But, the Conspiracy Illuminati don't bother with nagging little details when forming their great Global Paranoias.

One News Pontificator, bloated with the greatness of his own being, said sarcastically "Well, HOW can the Pentagon SAY that it posed NO Threat to the Homeland IF they claim to not even know WHAT it was " ? HAH !

To which the reporter replied, "Well, because it was OFF the West Coast over water with no vessels nearby and Traveling AWAY from any land".

OH.

Just to stir it up a little more-here is an interesting link. Personally, I don't have a clue.

I want to believe that it was a subtle "show of force" for that mental midget in North Korea.
