I will stay there tonight..
..if I EVER get out of Chula Vista marina RV park, that is..huff puff...

I bet she's busy cooking.
At the the southern end of the town of Vincente Guerrero, (about a mile past the main stoplights in town) you'll come to a street with a propane
filling station on the right and a CFE power substation across the street. Turn RIGHT at the propane place.
Take this road about a mile toward the ocean and you'll come to Posada Don Diego. Did you ever go to Don Pepe's restaurant/RV park? You turn on the
same street and you'll drive past Don Pepe's.

Hey Pomp... I've had my turkey fried also... excellent and quick! But, I love my smoked bacon on top of the smoked turkey too...

Opps...
Well, Murphy's Law is in full swing..and just struck up here in Chula Vista...dang. 
During a regular inspection while fueling and oil change, my Southwind's brakes showed mucho wear..almost metal to metal. Somebody has went over way
too many mountains lately.
Figuring I didn't want to end up plowing through BajaCactus's Pemex station in El Rosario...or tumble to the bottom of The Devil's Grade north of Sta.
Rosalia...I decided to get them fixed NOW.
Sooo... it looks like I will be slightly delayed in reaching that turkey dinner, Irene & crew.
Carumba!
But save me a drummie or a wing, por favor?...because, like Chief Dan George's great line in the movie 'The Outlaw Josie Wales' ....."We

Murphys law indeed Pompano...what a bad break BUT it is mucho mejor to catch that kinda stuff before you need those brakes !! Now we need to help you
find a place to have turkey !!!!!!!!

I feel for you Pompano. I've got my own mini holiday crisis. My Mexican MABE oven just croaked and I'm responsible for an apple pie for tomorrow's
feast at the casa of nomad "CP" & company.
BigWooo has his head in the oven and parts are spread everywhere and it's not looking good. Looks like i'll get to inaugurate the oven in the travel
trailer out back. Thank goodness we have that one, and thank goodness I'm already home in Baja!

Hey Roger - do you have no brakes left? if they are still working good enough I would try and make it across the border. Lots of shops down here will
be open early tomorrow and probably cost you less as well.

Hola amigo...
Done deal here. Got all new rear brakes, a few beers, 1 martini, etc...was definetely in need of. I would not have wanted to go any further. The
bill was not small..nor too large..a fair price.

The owner offered a free campsite with all hookups, so here I am..till morning. Thanks for the thought...guten abend.

Thank you for the Thanksgiving greeting, Irene. I wish I could be there. WHY AREN'T I IN BAJA NOW? WAH! Here is what happened to me and my neighbors:
Our mountain community above Nevada City, California has been hit with the worst snow storm in modern history in terms of damage. It is a wreck! We
have been without power since Friday night. I finally got off the hill Monday. All the roads out of there had been blocked with fallen trees, electric
wires and telephone poles. I took a chance and went up the steep icy hill that is closed during snow conditions. I made it with my 4 wheel drive and
didn't spin the wheels near the summit. Whew!
This snow storm came about three or four weeks too early. All the trees still have their leaves. That traps the snow and gets very heavy, snapping
branches or pulling down big trees. It is mostly the Black Oaks that are being damaged. The Live Oaks, Pines and Cedar do better in the snow. The
beautiful Japanese Elms and other decorative trees were in full bloom with bright yellows and reds. Now they are almost total losses. We just had
Indian Summer heat a week ago. Last night the temperature low got down to 15 degrees. I went back up to the house to turn on all the interior faucets
to a slow trickle so as to prevent the pipes to freeze. They are wrapped, but still......
Right now I am in a motel in Grass Valley. I was lucky to find a room in a flea bag motel that is often in the Police Blotter in the Grass Valley
Union. Hundreds of PG&E workers have been dispatched here from all over the state. There are blue trucks everywhere. They have taken all the
available hotel rooms in Grass Valley and Nevada City.Tomorrow, T-Day, I will move over to the historic Holbrooke Hotel, where Presidents and also
Mark Twain stayed often.
I thought I was going to have to go to Sacramento to a Motel 6(they accept dogs). This is better. I am closer to home and can have Thanksgiving dinner
and every other meal in town...Turkey at the Holbrooke.
My house has no electric power. PG&E workmen have told me it could be a week or more before power is restored in that area. In addition, my
propane shut off and I can't get hot water. (I don't know why (?) I hadn't had a shower since Friday. I have about 20 trees or branches down on my
property. Many people have had trees crash through their roofs and on their vehicles. Mine are still intact.
When I can get back into my house I don't know what damage I will find, or if the wires to my house are still connected. Then there will be lots of
tree work to be done. I will have to get a tree man in to cut off the hanging widow makers.
I was lucky to get a room with wifi. My cell phone was dead because I couldn't charge it. Now all is OK. Paco, my dog, is here with me too.
Between the Mulege floods and now this, it is hard to catch a break from catastrophic weather events. Well, at least I am safe and in a warm place and
not stuck in bumper to bumper holiday traffic. I hope the bedbugs don't bite!

Thanks for the post---we were going to try and get to Grass Valley for Thanksgiving, but some illness got in the way, so we were going to head up to
visit my mother-in-law right after Thanksgiving. Guess we need to watch what happens with the weather.
Which direction and how far are you out of Nevada City? Glad you are save and sound. And stay WARM---think Baja

Hi to all
Just took out the last of the pies and putting in a few more turkeys.
Tony the only thing I can say about you at least you are safe. I hope it stays that way. This year has been one for the books in many ways. Just
remember tomorrow to give Thanks for what you still have I hope it is good health.
Pompano I would love for you to stop by it would be a pleasure to meet you. After the great adventure you took me on this summer I should get to meet
my guide.
Baja gingo It will also be a pleasure to meet you and your wife. Drive careful.
WE have turkey to go until Sat. so we should I HOPE have some left overs.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and Please give a special thanks to our Troops and the families that wait for them at home.
I was one of those families a few years ago. My son is home now with his family I Have a Thanksgiving every day since.

resources. They are filling up all the hotels and restaurants. I think they will get us all online sooner than they first thought. They are really on

I am seven miles further up Banner Lava Cap from downtown Nevada City. Nevada City and the Brunswick also had major power outages but they are
restored now. Most of Grass Valley was spared. The two towns did get lots of rain and then snow. I am at around 3500' and got two and a half feet of
snow.
We are supposed to get more Friday night and Saturday. Then it will clear up again. What day were you planning to come up? Send me a U2U and I will
keep you updated (if my cable is also intact). I think I will be home Friday. It sounds like the power outage will be restored by then. The
temperatures are down to 15 to 20 degrees during the night. Very cold for here. Also way too early in the season.
If you come to Grass Valley I don't think you would be impacted by the weather like I was.

Thanks Tony---- not sure yet when we will be able to leave---Sounds like Grass Valley is ok, but sounds like the motels were full and we are not ready
to stay at the Bret Harte where she is----no yet. :-)
Guess I need to see what warm clothes I can dig out---sounds a little cold for the Birkenstocks, unless of course I can find some heavy wool socks.
