Quote: | Incidentally, I note here that Tacos Los Poblanos in south Maneadero has apparently changed hands or at least its name -- it is now called Tacos El
Recreo. My guess is that they're now a branch of the El Recreo that's across the highway from Tacos El Poblano farther north in Maneadero.

Not to be confused with El Poblano which is directly across from the original El Recreo in Maneadero. And El Poblano is way better than Los Poblanos
or El Recreo!

Right on. I'll tell you what though, even the worst taco I've had in Baja is better than the best tacos stateside. I don't know what it is, the
ambiance or the preparation, but they sure do go down sweeter in Baja. I am from L.A. originally and there is a taco restaurant chain there called
"King Taco". Angelenos go apechit over them and I just don't get it. They are mediocre at best.

That would be him - his name is Constancio but we all just call him Don Pancho. He is quite a character with a great story to tell. It changes every
time he tells it too....

sanquintin...etc. is so much on target. Tacos, and all Mexican food does not taste as good in El Norte. Inferior ingredients, bad water maybe? I do
not know.

In my experience, when someone gives you two tortillas in a taco, its either because he wants you to fill up quickly and cheaply with masa, or the
filling is not very good.

Not that I would ever disagree with Jesse on a matter of tortillas, there was a time in Loreto when the Rey de Tacos Pescados was serving four pieces
of fish on two small (5") soft thick machine-made corn tortillas. It seemed that everyone made two tacos out of them. The tortillas were especially
good, and an order of 2=4 tacos was a big lunch with their very complete line of ingredients and dressings.
One is the norm, two can be excellent.

It's not always about the taste. I've been to a few places where I actually got the impression that the two tortilla taco was so over-packed with
filling, it was implied that you should make two from one.
