I wish more would like to go to Baja that way... then I could have a job, as I love showing Baja off... and have led daily group trips in the past...

BTW: We're stuck in San Marcos for a few days after Feb 8, Want to get together for a drink?

Sure... Last time we hooked up was at Viva Baja Cactus in November, 2006... Then there was that time we passed you guys south of El Rosario waving and
honking... but you didn't see us...
Baja Angel works in San Marcos and I will work all over the county when there is some... I do have an estimate today, wish me luck!

Captkw: You would be very hard pressed to find anyone who knows more about Baja, top to bottom, than me, except maybe John Smith from Baja Winters
Caravans. Our groups constantly hear single travellers saying, "Where was that exciting place you went? I missed it."
Don't knock ANYTHING if you haven't tried it! |

Did I hear wagon master?
David...I am rounding up some folks and their wagons to do a 10-12 day trip into the Pacific side. what you charge for being the lead?
|
I would have to do it for 'fun' because I do not have an FM-3 work visa (required for any 'work', including voluntary)! Thanks for asking... u2u me
the locations you are interested in and I will help with maps, road log, sites along the way to see, etc.
[note: if the 7 Sisters, then an okay from Woody will be needed, since he owns the area ]

I must agree with you. But, as David K says, some folks like to travel this way. For me, I would not enjoy a caravan.... can't see well and you are
taking in the exhaust from the rig in front of you. You have no freedom to stop at places you see along the way if the caravan doesn't stop, etc.
But, I'm sure this works for others, just not us. We like adventure on our own during our travels.
Same goes for cruises... don't like'm at all.

I've made many camping trips solo and a couple with a group, I've made many solo flying trips throughout Baja and several with a group.....it's all
good. I enjoy being by myself most times but I have to admit that some of the most memorable times were with a group of like minded people having fun.
Why such a "tude" cap?.....dt

Do you somehow enhance your enjoyment of the Baja experience by trashing the way others choose to experience it? Thankfully most Nomads don't feel the
same way. It was suggested previously in this thread that you lighten up, and you seemed to agree to a "tude" adjustment as influenced by the passing
of your dog and grandma . What is it this time?

I'm guessing it'll be down somewhere around Guerrero Negro. When you see Marlon Brando and his minions all bearing down on you, try not to panic.

I'm guessing you were ahead of the schedule I expected. Betcha we passed in El Rosario on the 5th. Pretty much the only significant caravan we
encountered. And yes, some of you were waving.

my only b-tch with caravans is, when i wanna get on down the road, I WANNA GET ON DOWN THE ROAD!....and if the caravans would leave enough room for me
to hopscotch on down their little party it would be fine...but a lot of the time it's like they group so tightly together one can't pass in the best
of conditions...there should be some "caravan etiquette" rules that should be adhered to so we have lots of satisfied travelers...caravans and bicycle
riders have both tested me in the past...but...i'm a patient man...ask my wife.

I took mine down as well. Beddows felt them premature. Perhaps you and Bob might do the same and we'll all know soon enough.

For what it's worth, any idea why folks go in and edit out their content, instead of just deleting their post?
