Yup... a year is just a number. Same with age until you catch a glimpse of yourself in a mirror and don't instantly recognize yourself... It's good to be old until someone reminds you that you are.

It looks like the Malecon is on the 2012 plan. It is described as a "north end of beach" peatonal, which supports the malecon plans for the north beach area the Mayor has told us about.

http://www.rosaritoenlanoticia.info/2011/07/en-playas-de-ros...

"En el aspecto turístico, se tiene contemplado concretar los Proyectos arquitectónicos de “Playa Norte” y el Andador Peatonal todo esto en la zona turística del primer cuadro de la ciudad. "

google translate:

"On the tour, there are plans to realize the architectural projects of "North Beach" and the pedestrian walkway in the tourist area."

Its about time. Both Playas de Tijuana and Ensenada have a Malecon. Neithier of those two cities rely on the beach the way Rosarito does.

Well- now they are saying they don't want to build it. They have 10 million pesos from the government to use for the planned Malecon- but to get those funds they need to start by the end of 2011. Robles wants to build a jetty near the Rosarito Beach Hotel instaed. They would lose the government money if they don't do the project as planned though. They need to preserve all the beach- just not half.

North Beach project could be lost in Rosarito

The appeal for 10 million pesos that had been earmarked to start work on Playa Norte Project in Rosarito, could be lost as the year just ending and the State Government has not started the work of this work, said Mayor Javier Robles. He felt that this project is very ambitious and although I could bring benefits for the city, in his opinion is more important to invest in beach areas that are popular as is the colony Barbachano. He explained a resource that was allocated 10 million pesos for this year at the North Beach project, which is precisely the opposite side of the area Barbachano, but although the project is done, the resources have been arranged by the State Government , which is responsible for executing the work. Robles Aguirre mentioned that this corresponds to North Beach is to build a walking tour with shopping areas, but that he is promoting a new project for the construction of a jetty in the areas of most visited beach. The municipal noted that this is not the only ambitious project that comes out of the economic reality that we live and therefore it is harder to lose resources to implement them, referring to the Grand Park City, where plans to invest 50 million pesos for the construction of a lake, an amount that could have been spent on other attractions more accessible to put into practice. He argued that through the Metropolitan Fund, was achieved 14.5 million dollars to be invested in the great park, but only reach for earthworks in the area that is larger than 42 hectares and the time constraints, and so that the resource is not lost, exercise, but not for a module that allows a glimpse of progress in this long project.
