You're right. I'm in the wrong thread.
Isn't it weird, though? This is starting to look like a police blotter.

While I was in El Rosario recently two women committerd a strong arm robbery against a very old Mexican man by clubbing him on his head and stealing
around $6,000.00 Pesos.

I did just that.
The description of the victim "tourist", was in the article, but isn't needed in the title given the conflicting account by Marv.
What was a single tragedy is now possibly a triple tragedy; the death, purportedly resulting from drug use, and committed by step-sons.

Soulpatch,
How long has that been the case? Not surprised by your statement, just haven't noticed it as a casual visitor. Is there any community support for
dealing with the problem?

Poor taste. Too many lives have been changed because of this tragedy. Why make such stupid comments?
My heart goes out to all of those involved.

about an hour after it happened. It has pretty much blown over but the locals do not want the "tourist killed in LA Bay" to become LA Times news. It
was unfortunate, but they are hurting enough without rumors flying - thank you nomads for your support - Marv |
Thank you Marv for the facts and also to double confirm that it was not a tourist camping on the beach as someone replied earlier ( but in the Diaz
courtyard, just as Ken had posted). Sorry that such a tragic event happens and that you had to go through seeing the results.

Meth is the most evil of drugs. Heroin and Opium are bad, but meth is really poison.

ramp , it was pretty visible - thank you all for your support and concern, Marv

To set the record straight and to put a stop to the Nomad rumor mill, I've been asked by Paul, aka Pablo, to post in his behalf. Pablo is an American
who has lived legally in Bahia de Los Angeles for over twenty years. He is the biological father of the 16 year old young man Pablito, who was
involved in this awful event.
The man who died was called Marcos. He was not Pablito's step father as earlier reported. He was an American on the lam, a known drug dealer and user,
a drunk and a violent man who had tried to kill Pablito's estranged mother back in September by shooting her in the head.
Pablito's mother had just recently returned to Bahia and had reconnected with her son after walking away from him and his older sister over ten years
ago, leaving Pablo to raise both children on his own.
After the shooting/attempted murder Marcos was arrested, but then let go. A couple of months ago Marcos reappeared in town to live in his motor home.
Pablito and his mother went to the man who was the Delagado at that time, and to the Chief of Police to report that Marcos was back, to ask why he
wasn't in jail, and to ask for help. They were told that it wasn't their problem.
Last Saturday afternoon Pablito and a friend were at Casa Diaz. Marcos approached Pablito, picking a fight, calling Pablito a f#ucking queer among
other things, and pushed Pablito who then picked up a rock to defend himself. He hit Marcos in the head because he was scared. This man had already
shot his mother and got away with it. Pablito was afraid of being shot as well.
Pablito is a small framed, skinny little 16 year old, while Marcos was a grown adult in his late 40s.
Marcos went down and Pablito kicked him a few times because he was afraid he would get up.
When Pablito was later arrested he thought it was for fighting, only then did he find out that Marcos had died.
This was a fight between Pablito and Marcos. Pablito was taken to Ensenada. The other young man who was mentioned in an earlier report was just a
bystander, not involved, and was released in San Quintin without charges.
Pablo has attained a very good attorney for his son. It is clearly a case of self defense. Pablito was honest with the D.A. in Ensenada,“I didn't mean
to kill him, but I'm glad he's dead. He won't hurt my mother anymore.”
The D.A. wants to know why Marcos was not in jail for attempted homicide, as well as who let him out.
I hope this posting will put an end to any further rumors. This family is going through a very difficult time. Pablito is a good kid. He's not into
the meth, tweaker scene. This wasn't “a big family squabble over drugs” or a crime against an innocent American tourist.
It was a young kid, protecting himself and his mother from further violence.
As Soulpatch said, “Regardless, I hope if the guy was a bad dude that the kids don't pay too heavy of a price than they already have. I wasn't there
so I can't say but some people are just better off dead.”
Edit to add photos w/ Pablo's permission

thanks Paulina for setting the record straight - I don't think that many of the locals here actually understand the entire story. Still a tragic
event and I hope it works out well for the boy.

thanks so much for the clarification Paulina. This is so very tragic...not so much for Marcos but for poor Pablito and his family.
Unfortunately this is an all too common occurance here in Baja...sicko gringos on the run hiding out in small villages. These men are really
problematic, usually drunks or drug addicts and violent. They are often racist and provoke usually tranquillo mexicanos into fighting. A mexican man
will fight to protect the family's honour and this is where the probem lies. We had one such fellow in our village and it so worried me that the same
thing would happen as in BOLA...that some father, son or brother would get in a fight with this man and would end up in jail for something that wasnt
really his fault. He was in several fights and luckily was not injured much but it was always a concern of mine. Luckily he is gone for now...whew.
We really need to try to protect our villagers from these people somehow....wish there were better mechanisms to detect criminal records of visitors.
So very very sorry again for Pablo...hope he gets off and gets a medal!
