Actually there have been quite a few murders in San Felipe and Mexicali over the last couple years. Reality is they are so focused on trying to save the town that you won't hear about them unless you really are connected in the town.

The "gringo" websites, blogs and news sources will not post these things. They are afraid that if ANY of it gets out the town will dry up more than it already has.

That's not a murder RATE. That is a murder body count total. To get a rate you have to divide by the population. This is the murder RATE.

Mexico has over 6 TIMES the murder rate as the US.

This is bad...not because it is where we live but Mexico is running out of towns where tourist can go and feel safe. After all, Tourism is Mexico's top revenue.

What I can tell you is this "Santa Semana" there were a lot more Mexicans visiting CSL. When we talked with several of them, they told us they were from MZT, PVR, MTY and they liked how safe CSL is.

It will be interesting to see how President Calderon handles this. One thing for sure, Ernesto Coppel will not stand idly by.

No! There haven't been many people coming down to buy property along the river in Mulege. If you read the post you referenced, you would see there is nothing there that is fear based. My house and personal business has nothing to do with this string. I fear no one. If you come within my vicinity you will see what I have in store for you, you racist Mexico and Mexican hater.

I had my suspicions about your identity, Norte, and now you have tipped your hand: same theme; same trolling agenda; same personal vendetta; same obsession for stalking me and digging up old posts. The only thing missing so far, as "Norte", are the personal taunts and insults under various avatars, and the personal threats in my email and my home phone answering service.

You have been banned so many times here that you have gone over to another blog and manufactured lies about me. You have libeled me and so has that blog. I have saved all of the evidence and have proof. The county sheriff and local police up north, where I have a home, have a huge file on you and so does my attorney. Get a life, you pathetic coward POS!

I have the support of virtually all Nomads, except for some of the bottom-dwelling wingnuts who dwell in Off Topic, and certainly all Mulege residents who know me! I have the credibility here. You have none,Troll! You are busted! Go away...again!

This is my legal order for you to cease and desist!

Note that they post a picture of the lobby of the Pueblo Bonito Los Cabos (the first one built). But the body of the article cites Pueblo Bonito Rose (next door).

So, do I believe the picture, or the text??

If you would have bothered to look, I was around before your buddy was banned. I have my beliefs about how safe Mexico is and whether it would be a good bet to buy there,,,but it has nothing personal to do with you. SO quit threatening me.

Phil S., your dollar at the resorts employs more people than someone buying a six pack at the local store claiming they help the Mexican economy for sure. The resort like your staying employs up to 3,000 people. Thus, anyone here that thinks people not buying or staying at these resorts do not help the local people of that community are way off base.

Enjoy your resort but do not let a couple of coward pieces of dog crap keep you from enjoying the town or near-by villages. I have a number of paid off resorts that I visit and I know that what I spend there along with my friends and relatives help out a lot. Our hotel workers love to see us come, as we tip our room helper everyday and we leave so much unopened food and drink in the refrigerator when we leave too.

I also lease houses in Mexico, travel all over Baja and Mainland spending money on fuel, food, hotels, etc. All of this is why Mexico wants and needs tourist to continue coming. Again, you do not have to excuse yourself or explain yourself for your choices in enjoying Mexico. Have FUN amigo and enjoy everyday like tomorrow will never come,LOL. Don't know what the big deal is, this murder does not fit the typical cartel murder at all. This whas either a fight or a personal vendetta, nothing more.

Bajafun77,
Phil is a friend of mine. You're absolutely correct and, be assured, that Phil is not afraid to travel anywhere in Baja. He has been around for a long time and knows the score.

My sentiments exactly. Seems like typical macho stuff. Guy probably looked at his wife/girlfriend wrong or made some remark. Having been in the bar business all my life, this maybe one of those occasions that proof how booze can do wonders for you.

I'm not sure what you're trying to show us here. Mexico is part of North America. BTW - what's the source? Zikes - Central Amereica sure seems high. Do they all have the same definition of homicide?
