Jerry......Although the conditions looked good - there was 75 degree water outside - I logged about 150 miles in search of wahoo, marlin, or yellowfin, for nada. Only a couple of ambitious yellowtail that hit wahoo lures.
Actually this is at least a month earlier than the season over there is due to begin. But, in the five or six years I've been fishing the fall season on the banks, this is the fifth or sixth July that I've made an exploratory trip to see if maybe this year somebody shows up early. Hope does spring eternal.
It was good to get over there, however, and get a new track out the boca. The sands have shifted a bit.
And the coyotes on the way back in were a treat......

Mood: Fishing for fun

Hey Bill,

We sold our boat so no more hauling one 2000 miles on a trip. We are planning a trip to Mag Bay & La Bocana in Oct. I will get a hold of Roberto to set something up with him or stay out at the island. Haven't decided yet.

The local fishing here sucks really bad. No tuna. I haven't read of an albacore, but the 1 1/2 day boats are getting some bluefin off San Martin island.

I don't see much in the way of reports out of your area nor Santa Rosalia / Mulege either.

Cool photos!
I have some of a coyote I saw not too long ago at a cemetery in Oceanside, CA....it was just strolling along. I think it was a bit more filled out than those guys!

there are lots of coyotitos around San Roque where we have been living the last while and ya know what's weird....our German Shepard Shami has a special bark for the coyotes...it's kind of a sheperd/coyote howl...really weird and she only uses it on coyotes...cool eh...so we always know when there are coyotes around.

on another note...a fisherman finally got a yellowtail a couple days ago up by san pablo...so the season will start real soon....por fin.

Great pic's. Reminds me of the time in the late 30's or early 40's when my grandfather had a run in with a pair of coyotes on his 'sheep ranch' just out of Riddle Oregon. One night he lost six head to the coyotes. They were really torn up badly & dead (the sheep that is)!!!!!! I remember that morning like it was yesterday that he came in mid morning cursing a blue streak. Grabbed his rifle and was gone most of the day. When he returned, he was still cursing a blue streak. Didn't find them he said. He was running about 120 head, and without a sheep dog!!!!!!!!!! ( my job on my occational visits with my folks was to be the one who jumped up & down in the burlap bags, stomping down the wool as they sheared the sheep. I was about 10 years old in those days. Or something like that. (oops. Sorry. I didn't mean to highjack this thread)
