I prefer to stay and fight for the people of Mexico. I actually love it here. But I'm smart enough not to trust anyone who makes the decisions down here. And what happened to that "high road" point of yours you were trying so hard to make? Your own words defeated you and now only personal attacks? Does stuck on stupid run in the family?

I looked at buying a place there several years ago but decided not to. At the time the bar was open and seemed to be doing a good ex-pat business. Is that still the case? Possible venue for Sunday afternoon football? If not, is there another Rosarito hangout good for watching football with other Americans? Afternoon bar crowd football followed by a lobster dinner would make for a good Sunday day trip.

It's OK. Once exposed they run back into the cracks and wait like a snake to strike again. I love my Mexican family because they are nothing like him or his family. He complains about the corruption until his family has the power to do it to others. Then they try to take the high road and later cry like a baby if you call them out on it. I don't hate the Mexican race at all- just the downward spiraling culture of self-destruction and defeat they embrace and reinforce. None of what is happening right now in Mexico is sustainable and they won't even look in the mirror and ask if the problem might be them. Any when it is all done and over- you know who they will blame for it... us.

Places to Watch Football

Ruben's Palm Grill in Cantamar, about ten miles south of the Rosarito Beach Hotel.

We had an early dinner there last Sunday and there were three or maybe four games on (sorry, not a football fan) the several flat screens scattered around the bar and dining room.

Lots of American and Mexican fans of American football in the bar.

Also, I would imagine that Splash!, a few miles farther south down the road would be a good place. They are usually tuned into sports channels.

It seems to me that the corruption/drama has been taken into account given the $7,500 price of the property improvements.

Seems like it's "almost free" if you don't mind paying the high rent for the trailer park. The rental market is very soft in Rosarito. You can rent a new 3 bedroom condo two buildings from the water for $400. If you're a high roller- you can pay $990 (inclusive) a month and live at the Rosarito Beach Hotel and enjoy all the amenities too: http://tijuana.en.craigslist.com.mx/apa/2603653583.html

I wonder how those condotel owners/investors at the Rosarito Beach Hotel are making out? Any return on that investment?

Poisoning Dogs

We train our dogs not to accept food that we have not handed to them.

We get a friend, who the dogs do not know, and have him handle some tasty meat.

We attach the meat (wearing gloves so there is no familiar smell) to a low level-cattle electric wire in the yard.

Our guys are always interested in food opportunities, but I have seen them leaving the meat with the electric triggers alone for days.

You have to do a refresher course about every three months; some get it and never forget, some forget ant then get it again.

Train your dogs to repell from AntiFreeze. They love it and it will kill them in a very painful way.

There are ways to train a dog from being poisoned? I don't think the "Dog Whisperer" series covered that.

These people were treated no better or worse than Mexicans treat each other. Opening a business is not easy anywhere, but in Mexico everyone has their hands out. Once you are up and running the extortionists move in for their cut. It's the same story many places in the world- and I have honestly have never heard or read anything that would encourage an ex-pat to open a business down here. It is not a story that should be forgotten, dismissed or belittled imo.

Ex pats owning restaurants in Rosarito - there are several, actually. Think Susannas and the Mongolian Grill, for starters. You are painting too broad a stroke on this one.

Maybe, but look who is financially backing Suzannes. I don't know the mongoloids. Suzanne's is owned by Pakistanis- not ex-pats.

"Arif Durrani is a Pakstani with a connection to Rosarito. His restaurant in Rosarito is still in business. It is called "Susanna's" and is operated by Durrani's wife, Susanne Stehr. The restaurant built with illegal arms-trade money. In Mexico, nothing is as it seems."

Ex-Pats "Owning" Businesses in Rosarito

Not claiming any special knowledge of the "ins-and-outs" of doing business in Rosarito.

"That's Amore" Italian Restaurant in Rosarito has been in business for a long time.

Bahia Cantiles Restaurant has been operated by several different American ex-pats before Nicolas and Guapo bought it and then sold it off to open Splash. Their partner is an American ex-pat.

Ollie's Pizza is owned by an American ex-pat.

The Japanese restaurant next to Banorte (Akai Sakana, I think) is owned by a Japanese-American ex-pat.

Why are they successful? (Or at least appearing to be.) :?:
