I think we all get it when 50,000 people have been killed due to war among the cartels, government cracking down, people taking advantage of the
fighting to do more hostile actions towards others also. However, most of us would still let the urges to get traveling in Mexico overcome the risks
or fears no matter what. Too many bad things that can happen ever day no matter where you are, so you either step up and enjoy life or get into a
corner and worry yourself to an early grave.
My wife and I have traveled by vehicle all over Baja and numerous times to Maztalan and Puerto Vallarte over the past 8 years without any real
problems, instead we have found very helpful people in times of vehicle problems that occur at the most unwelcomed times. Paranewbi, surprised you
did not visit Costa Rica since you were so close and we really loved it. Still have to do the other Central American Countries sometime soon, as
friends keep telling me all of the good beaches and adventures worth doing.
Now, one thing I do know is nobody can not say Ken is not a risk taker or party seeker as his pictures along with his topics demonstrate this time and
time again. Ken probably is the party we just all have not experienced yet,LOL. Keep traveling and having FUN my baja brother. Everyone else knows
nomads just cannot contain themselves in living the simple life in USA we crave the Vida Loca, Hmmmmm???? LOL Take Care & Travel Safe----"No

I have been to Costa Rica but I left it out of the citations as it is exactly as you say...in land and people!
Although danger can occur anywhere...if your looking over your shoulder all the time while in Costa Rica, you might as well go home and sit on the
toilet.
The only time I felt threatened in Central America, ever, was in 1976 at the Nicarauquan Border where the capitan would not allow a backpacker
hitching a ride with us to cross if he didn't cut his long hair! We slept the night right there hoping the morning crew would be more lenient, yet
they weren't. The lad went back north. We all have our priorities I guess.
If you observe me and my dreadlocked short hair in my photo (whitest guy) then this may have been the case of a wise border capitan.

Now paranewbi, I bet you also have some very colorful and interesting photos from those secluded beaches down in Central America during those times
you were down there too, right??LOL
Hawaii has some very nice beaches but Costa Rica had some very nice ones too!! We won't talk about all of the secluded beaches and possible photos
taken there or Ken will be calling us out to show them if we have them,LOL. Now, no nomads here would have secluded beach photos that might be a

Simple: all countries including the ol' USA has issues. Let's not paint Baja with Black and white paint....then call that a picture.
