Memories of cloudy days (months) in Washington.
Taken at 8:30. I think we're in for a mostly cloudy day.

HAPPY WATER FROM THE SKY DAY! We had morning coffee to a beautiful lightening show and it's still drizzling here in Comitan.

the rain has stopped and then the power went off....turns out that the gavilan(osprey) who has been busily building his new nest the last 2 weeks will have to move....his new nest that is crafted of old T-shirts, yarn, rope, casette tape and bits of wire...shorted out the CFE wires on the pole holding his home up, knocking out electricity to the point area....ooooops.

I took this photo of the construction project 3 days ago behind the Sunset Casita....mom & dad both transporting building materials....you can see that some of the hanging stuff was old wire that got wet in the rain and created a short....sheesh.

We left Loreto at 0600, with a few drops on the truck and damp roads. Sprinkles off and on as we went through Mulege and out Punta Chivato, and off and on light rain to San Ignacio where we stopped at about noon.
About 1400 it rained, gently at first, and then very hard for an hour or so. Wind with the rain.
We met some ladies in town who had gotten rained out of whale watching in GN, and who had then driven on to San Ignacio, because they wanted to see whales TODAY!
I have a feeling that they may be 0 for 2.
(BTW, they had no idea they needed visas, and the GN checkpoint was un-manned when they drove through late last night)

It was a spectacular changing sky today...sunny and crispy clear making it perfect for whale watching from our front yard today...dozens passed us by heading north. The wind shifted back to the NW and blew some of the rain clouds back at us for sunset. A rainbow appeared over Pta.Prieta and the sky and ocean turned goldy orange. then all grew dark and it even thundered! what a thril!

Here are some of the images that end with fluffy sunset slouds over my cherry tomatoes.

Steady rain & showers since 3:30 pm. My gauge total at 8 pm is .89" This is the rain that soaks in and we should see a specular burst of growth soon.

A word of warning for road traffic.

This rain will cause a lot of small slides, so look for rocks on the highway next to cliffsides. I just drove to Coyote Bay from Mulege and there LOTS of good-sized rocks on the pavement.

USE CAUTION...SLOW DOWN ON THOSE CURVES NEXT TO THE CLIFFSIDE.

amazing how the weather is really different depending on where in Baja you are - we had drizzles of steady rain from about 1:30 on last nihgt. No thunder. no lightning. and not a whole lotta rain but, like I said, steady.

then this afternoon we could see black black clouds towards asuncion and here it was a gorgeous sunny afternoon - it actually got HOT.

clear skies outside now ....
