And you can catch what?:?:

Your wife perhaps?

Cabrilla, grouper, roosters, Sierra, pargo, all go off pretty good in the summer and during the spring and winter yellows, pargo, and some really good white seabass fishing.

But the Trigger fishing is best. Light gear....damn good eats.

That answer your question?
holy crap! i've ben gored. hey fez, first of all nobody asked about fishing and secondly please tell me where to catch roosterfish in gonzaga bay and all will be forgotten.:?:
.

Seems perhaps you didn't read the posts clearly. I highlight the question that was indeed, asked of me.

...............all will be forgotten.

You bet Dino... I am hanging in there... Finishing a job today (MP Rotators, controller) once the back-ordered brass tee gets in. New estimate in Lake San Marcos, too... Thanks for asking...

Anyone can catch fish in a boat but only \"El Pescador Grande\" can get them from the beach.

I hope when my time comes the old man will let me bring my rod and the water will be warm and clear.

When giving fishing tips, direction or reports its always nice to provide accurate information which may save someone a trip, haven't you been given bum information on one of your many fishing trips, now if you have info from some personal experience that would be great.

You know maybe a picture of something anything? or a story:rolleyes:

I've been given some big time bad info regarding fishing in a certain body of water. Took me 4 months to determine that things weren't as advertised. And it's gone down hill since then.

mcfez, You did mention rooster fish! Didn't say you caught any, but they were on your "fish to be caught" list.

What is the fish your wife is holding in upper right corner?

There are still big cabrilla left if you know where to look. My son could see them near our campsite. He was fishing for triggers when he spotted one and just cast a bass worm to it. The thing took it and just ran off across the cove. He never even turned it. Sure miss that place now.

Rob ID the fish on the top left in my right hand?

Then I'll tell you one more.

In retrospect we knew nothing about cabrilla fishing. My son is an independant sort who often grabs the rod and just takes off. And he experiments much more than I do.

Anyway, he rummaged through the tackle box and found an 8 inch swimbait that's been sitting there for a decade. He works his way along the boulders until he reaches a point with just massive boulders. So he casts and casts and casts with no results. Then on one retrieve an enormous fish shoots out from under his feet and grabs it. The rod bends into a complete arc as the fish dives back under the rock. No amount of pressure could stop it.

He comes running back to the camper wildeyed and out of breath. Tells me the story. There is a frantic search for more lures with him dashing back to the same point. Nothing. But the following day he's out there again and has 2 more breakoffs.

Eventually we put 2 and 2 together and start exploring the coastline. He spots a golden grouper that looks to be 15lbs and it rocks him like the others. I eventually catch up, with my bad knee. and sure enough - there he is. A magnificent specimen. But now he ignores all offerings. And so it went. No big fish landed. Used up all the lures I had. And had a great time.

In the early trips we had no idea what to do and having no boat made it even worse so it was trial and error and hope for the best, the northern gulf in those days was chuck full a sharks of all sizes and shapes which made for some fun things on the beach:lol:

In the evenings they would come in much closer than daytimes we would position oursleves on the beach waiting for Corvina to show and than the games began, the idea of the games was who gets the hooked fish you or the shark, one evening I hook this fish and up pops the grinner and he is getting excited ,it was a nice fish so I was trying hard to get himhe's close now and the shark is freaking out I reach down to pick up the fish and out jumps the shark right at me,I throw the the rod and fish down and fall backwards and here he comes:lol:

He beaches himself teeth snaping,he is still trying to get the fish on LAND,I let him have the fish:o

Fun and games in the gulf how I miss them.
