BTW...if you need gas and are near GN, the station most trusted by Nomads is the two-pump PEMEX located on the south side of the main town road and is located closest to the salt plant, it's about 1/3 mile from the hwy. 1 turn-off. Very nice people and honest pumps. It's about 5 or 6 ALTOS from the first tope.

sorry about the hijacking..I think it was in 79 I saw on the AAA map south of GN where it said "old fishing pier" so being a 20 year old kid thought I go find and fish..NOT !! after driving around what looked like the moon to me and drinking cheap tokillya I just stopped a went to sleep...the next morning I woke up in the middle of nowwhere !!white as far as I could see and no sense of which way to go !! so,,I turned around and followed my tire track's back the way I came and got the hell out of there and never went back to find the "fishing pier" LOL K & T:cool:

Guerrero Negro

JMHO

In addition to looking for the outdoor areas, I wonder how many tourists drive all around Guerrero Negro and not just on the first part of the main street. If you have not done so, drive to the end of main street and into the neighborhood there ---- it is quite different and quite nice.

Guerrero Negro is still not our favorite place, but we sure have found a lot more to like about it since we have spent more time there. Then again, we also like cold and foggy.

We seldom buy gas anywhere in GN --- just don't need it, but we sure appreciate the bathrooms at the new station.

I don't know if this makes any sense or not, but since several of the pumps have been shut down --- taped over, we guess that they were checked recently and so the open pumps must be ok ---- seems logical anyway. :?:

regarding that itty bitty gas station past the hospital in GN...there is only one "special" pump that gives the right amount of gas...something to watch for at any station is where the taxi's fill up...or a long line of locals at one particular pump!

Has anyone gone in and asked why the pumps are taped over and out of service? If they were shut down for discrepancies it would only take a few minutes to recalibrate and get back in service. Maybe they're taped up/out of service for another reason? Just playing devils advocate. :bounce:

Looked pretty official to me...If I recall they said Profepa. The station in Vizcaino is a Cali station so I assume they were on the up and up...but who knows.

The pumps were taped up at the new highway (several years old now) gas station just south of Mulege 2 weeks ago.

I asked. They told me the hoses had leaks. The tapes had Profepa on them.
