USA.....Let's learn from the Mexicans

Quote:
I brought this up because some of you are familiar with the Maneadero fiasco...how for years and years the Mexicans just filled in the potholes. That is what Mr. Chong does every so often, he goes around with asphalt and fills in the potholes. But like Mexico, the asphalt just comes up and sticks to the tires like it did on the road to La Bufadora. There was alot of grumbling in Punta Banda and personally I lost a tire to these potholes, when to the community's complete amazement (at least I was amazed), Ensenada decided to completely repave the road. That was quite a post holocaust situation, with all the driving deviation, but came out actually beautifully. It taught me that the only way to fix potholes it to repave the road completely. I learned all this, and Mr. Chong now is saying that we just need to fill up the potholes. But ask anyone in Punta Banda what is better? I use the Mexican example to point out the uselessness of a temporary fix. And so, if they can do it in Mexico, they can do it in Hawaii, USA. Alot of Mexicans living here BTW picking coffee beans.

City Council

When I went to the County Department, where we pay our property taxes, they told me to go to the City Council to ask them if we could pave a road down the street.

If it has potholes I would have assumed it was paved already. Is it a dirt road or a paved street? Is it in the county or the city? Why is the previous wner, Mr. Chong, not helping anymore? Lots of unanswered questions here. Devil is in the detail, right Doctor?

Mr. Chong, my neighbor

Mr. Chong is a partner in the law firm, Chong and Chong, and his father sold the land to the County for easement rights. He called me from his phone last week, and today the Mayor's office confirmed they received a letter from Mr. Chong, but that there was a "law" prohibiting the County from doing any work on the road, contrary to what the deed says in 1969. I have asked them to clarify the law and reference it...there are a slew of Chongs living on Chong Street, Grandma Chong is getting a new home built in the cul de sac where the County maintains the road, of course. Mr. Chong lives down the street from me, and he insists there is a property law that states any one who uses a public easement must maintain the road. Now they are telling me to go to the Corporation Counsel, which governs County law. The road is paved, but has huge potholes that are filled in by the Chongs but open up it seems deeper than the filled ones in a short period of time.

Puzzling over Potholes

And Viral VERBalization ?

".........owned by Portuguese who influxed into the area........."

Disregarding the awkward syntax and the trend (usually among politicos) to convert nouns into verbs with reckless abandon to appear original, THIS is the first time I've seen Influx treated as such.

Is it a Chinese thing ?

Or Hawaiian ?

Yeah, especially when the Bufadora road in Mexico looks like a super highway compared to it...

This, from a man coming to Punta Banda from the Great Socialist Experiment in The North, who doesn't own a car.
