Bahia Asuncion would rival Yemen in the amount of sand and dust that flies through the air. Cars get their valves constantly "ground" so valve jobs
are a rarity. Anything that moves and isn't hermetically sealed is in for a beating. A $50,000 color laser printer wouldn't stand a chance. My budget
for a printer would be something like nineteen dollars.

yes Acadist & Dave, that's the truth so no use buying a good one.and Jose Luis's repair are often costly so we have another solution....a kind
Nomad is sending an old one down for me next week although I am still going to take this one apart anyway just to see how they work and heck I have
nothing to lose....and Yes, we are always up for trades so bring one down so I'll have a spare when this one goes on the blink!
now about that CD player.....the one Udo kindly gave us seems to have a problem revving up it's engine...dang.
on another note.....skies are ominously dark now threatening rain....wonder how rainproof my tent is?
thanks again all of you for your thoughtful comments

That's the price one pays to live in the Vizcaino biosphere. If you love the place, you deal with it.

when we are not actively using our printer, we cover it with a plastic trash bag. Not pretty, but it keeps the dust out.

My point about Jose Luis is that you can easily buy one and have it shipped to BA. For the record, his prices are far below what one pays in the USA
and he guarantees his work. But it sounds like you got a deal.

Search Youtube for a video about fixing printers. If you have a common one I bet you'll find a video about your exact one. For the first search, just
enter your make and model number into the search box.

I have found the above advice to be so true...type in the exact words describing your problem, along with make and other details and someone else will
have had the same problem! And kindly offer solutions.

Be aware that some inkjet manufacturers have models that are made for sale either in the US or outside the US, and even for specific countries. This
can make for a VERY difficult time in finding replacement inkjet cartridges. I have heard people decry this while owning Epson, Canon and HP.
Our Mexican-bought Epson does not have replacement cartridges for sale in the US. Only Mexico, according to Epson support. Naturally, they are more
expensive down here.
So, make sure that IF you end up buying new, you check the inkjet sources around you and make sure the cartridges are sold near you.
And if someone brings you down a US model, getting replacement cartridges might be difficult.

thanks for the tip....I have been searching for tutorials on fixing my problem....nada...(in english or spanish anyway) and trying to find the service
manual to download but links go to something else...very frustrating!
I will take it tomorrow to Jose Luis for an estimate IF he can fix it...if I dont find any tutorials myself.

Shari, I was at Office Depot in Ensenada yesterday. They concentrate on Hewlett Packard. They have scan print photo fax. Good prices. My old
girlfriend has had one for a long time. She scrapbooks, sends and scans hundreds of pix, does flyers, etc. Its a heavy workhorse. Check them out. I
believe they are robust for Nevadaqs dusty environment too. I am in Punta Banda now. Best regards to you and Juan. Bobvaso

I would add to steer clear of Photo Printers like the HP Photosmart types. They use a LOT of ink, and my B209a, requires four cartridges, and it is
EASILY possible to buy the wrong 564 black cartridge. A nightmare from the beginning, and only at first did it produce STUNNING color prints. A love
hate relationship.

Shari,
Just print yerself a new one in 3D:
The CubeX 3D Printer is designed to bring your creations to life with professional grade printability for the office, school or home.
The CubeX printer revolutionizes the way we think of printing. Instead of putting ink on a flat surface like regualr printing, it builds up material
in three dimensions to create a real object. It melts plastic filament, then draws with it in a very fine layer. It then builds another fine layer of
plastic on top of this one, then another, and another building your idea in slices from the bottom up until you have a plastic object ready to hold!
3D Print in Multi-Color
Easily create your multi color parts with CubeX color software
Print as Big As A Basketball
10.8" x 10.45" x 9.5" or 275mm x 265mm x 240mm
Design Software Included.
Hey, don't laugh. The gun nuts are all over this.
