Doesn't taste the same. |
If you give powdered whole milk about a week to get used to the "new" taste of milk, you will find it quite acceptable. We use a bit more powder than
the recipe on the pkg. calls for. We use it in all our cooking and coffee and now actually prefer it to the liquid varity. We don't drink ANY milk
straight - it puts fatty deposits under your eyes.

Because I go to San Diego so often I buy three or four gallons then freeze it. Always there when I need it! I will NEVER buy Mexican milk again
because of the fast time it goes bad.

There is Shelf Stable milk by Lala which we always consider to be very good .. doesn't require refrig until it is opened. Woody that may be what you
had .. they offer it in whole half and non fat varieties and the whole is delish .. nothing like the powdered mil - yuck - or carnation canned either
- also yuck - except for leche condensada dulce which is very yummy :-)

Ya know, the true answer to all this is just stick to martinis and cerveza. That's my motto and i'm stickin' to it. May make the cereal taste
funny, but you don't mind it as much......

It is the temperature held during transportation and storage that causes the problem. Milk should be maintained at 38F. Oh lucky me, I go right to the
almacen de caracol and get my milk.
Mexicans will pay a fortune to maintain their cerveza at 2C, pay lots of money for a six-inch tall red LED temperature display you can read all the
way across the street, and let perishable products wither. I was buying curdled milk in Mulege over 30 years ago. Ice box temperatures over 50F.
I don't expect any of you have an IR thermometer? They are inexpensive and one shot, two seconds will ID temperatures to within one degree F.
I do not purchase 58F meat. I love blanquillos held at 80+F, around a 70% broken yolk factor.

Funny, I just finished watching a documentary on Hulu called, MILK?. Very enlightening. I may be done with the stuff.
