Rita Mae sounds like a very wise person.

Rita Mae Brown is an American writer and feminist. She is best known for her first novel Rubyfruit Jungle. Published in 1973, it dealt with lesbian themes in an explicit manner unusual for the time. Brown is also a mystery writer and screenwriter. Wikipedia

Born: November 28, 1944 (age 68), Hanover, Pennsylvania, United States

Education: University of Florida, New York University, More

Movies: The Slumber Party Massacre

Nominations: Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program, More

She was also the partner of Fannie Flagg who, among other achievements wrote "Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe" a truly wonderful read.

Much of the wonderfulness of her book was lost when excised from the movie due to political and morally repressive issues so the book is the only way to truly get a handle on Flagg's unique perspectives.

I left a copy and there was one already there in the library at Campo Sirena last time. Check it out, one of the funniest books of substance I have ever read. (the other is "The River Why").

"All you have to do is get up and look at the mountains and look at the other animals to realize that your problems are mostly made up or exacerbated by humans."

"And I hope we never get so dependent on government, we don’t take care of one another. That’s what really terrifies me." Rita Mae Brown
