Don't forget about La Europea! Buy a bottle of wine from $8+ dollars then order cheese, cerviche, deli meats plate with bread & crackers The waiter will serve you inside or outside plus your wine is poured into a very nice wine glass. Last time the hubby ordered a beer I think it was 15 or 20 pesos.

Last Saturday night we attend the WBC fights held under the pavilion close to the Red Cross. Ring side seats were 300 pesos each and beers were 20 pesos. A few of the matches were fighting for the championship belt. Being raised on Golden Glove fights I have to say I was very impressed with the entire evening...including the officials!

There is so much to do in CSL besides getting drunk or getting STD's. When it comes to tourist they are the same all over the world. They go on vacation to have fun, they take so much $$$ with them and they want to spend it...one or another.

I agree with karenintx, La Europea is a great place to have a sandwich and a couple beers. We have lunch there every Wednesday. Word of warning split the baguette sandwich with someone it is way too big for one person. Karla and Rome are the outside servers and are just great.

Cabo

A tale of two cities.

Cabo San Lucas is, more, of a party town. My opinion, the young folks like to go out to bar hop from place to place.

San Jose Del Cabo, is a pretty low key place and tranquil. We have stayed at both places and we really like the Welk's resort, seriously. It is not champagne bubbles and "a onea and a twoa"

It is near the Home Depot on the shore it is very secluded and very nice.

But, we have stayed on the east side during a city fiesta and it was a blast to bang around downtown with plenty of food, spirits and music.

Either way, make your own fun.

yes its a party town,, but a lot of fun things to do
I am way past the age of bar hoping all night,
my only complaint with the town is the Time Share idiots
they start on you as soon as you get off the plane and don't let up any where in town,
and I know its not just Cabo,, with time share people
but I would think they could do some thing about about taming them down.

Interesting take on people working for a living in MX.

Sales is sales. Ever go to a sales presentation? Ends up hard sell -- for a free lunch. Not a totally bad experience.

It's about real estate too. A friend flew in for a week at a time share in San Jose. He's returning for a week in February. For him, time share works. He probably bought from someone who approached him but don't know for sure.

I simple ''Gracias, No'' should do it. Wag your index finger for emphasis.

I think having thicker skin down here helps get through very minor annoyances.

Hooker33...And La Europea has A/C during the summer!!! We do wish they were still in the Marina as it was fun to people watch from the patio.

As far as Timeshare OPC, it reminds of what my second grade teacher told the girls when we told her the boys were chasing us during the recess break. She said..."don't run then they can not chase you." So when it come to Timeshare OPC, my hubby tells our friends..."if you do not converse with the OPC they will not waste their time with you, just keep walking."

Cabo is no different than any other major tourist town in Mexico. Mazatlán, Puerto Villarta, (NOT pronounced "Porto Valartay), Cancun, Cozumel, Acapulco, yes even Ensenada for cruise trippers a whole hundred miles south of Sandy Eggo, it's all the same.

YES, it's a party town.

For drivers in and out of all places, it is a place to visit (at least once) and, from time's standpoint of being able to explore a little bit, it is more than the Giggling Marlin and Cabo Wabo (w/ - or w/o Sammy Hagar, Eddie, or the crew). Much more to see and do the longer you're there.

However they're all lumped together by two common bonds; money, and the 'people' who bring it. There is more of the underlayment of quiet but palpable resentment of La Gente towards Los Touristas... it's as thick as A BRICK.

Then there's the rest of Baja (and Mexico, barring the southern guerrilla war going on). REAL Baja. Real Mexico, real people, not predators and prey. As stated several times above, if you haven't been to Los Cabos, GO. If you have, then make your second choice accordingly. Some like golf course condos and luxury they can afford there they can't here....... more power to them, and you.

The time share thing cuts both ways. Of course many of the folks at the airport and rental car outlets are simply annoying, but that is how they make their money. The actual time share sales people are not much different than real estate agents in the states, in that if you don't buy, they starve.

That said, like them or hate them, time shares generate tens of thousands of trips to Cabo annually, which is a MAJOR part of the local economy.
