Let me clarify the waters and rephrase my inquiry.
On my last camping trip to Baja I saw some coin operated water machines somewhere.
Does anyone know how they work or where there might be one in Baja Sur?
We back country camp and need to fill our containers somewhere about halfway trough our one month trip.
Generally find beer too filling. |
Almost every town has an aqua purificada store on the main drag. Bring your own containers, or get one from them.
Why would you use a vending machine when the staffed Aqua purificada stores are most everywhere?

I'm seriously worried about people going backcountry when they are making such inquiries.
If this is a car camping, why wouldn't you buy a couple of 5 gallon garaphones with purified water? You can buy them empty or full in most grocery
stores, you can bring them from the States and re-fill when you need. There is MUCH higher likelihood to come across a store with garaphones than
that coin-operated gizmo, and probably lower cost too.
If this is a bus/hike trip, you should familiarize yourself with 10 liter MSR Dromedary Bag. They come handy in car/boat trips as well. More compact
than garaphones and very sturdy.
Agua Purificada is a generic name for purified water, a translation. You can see it written on grocery stores or specialized shacks that sell only
Purificada. In grocery stores you can also find Ciel and couple other brands of bottled purified water, as well as 1.5 liter mineral water (Agua
Mineralizada) - it quenches thirst better than Purificada. If you don't see any, just ask. A little Spanish goes a long way.

Seriously worried ....SERIOUSLY ?
Hi
I live in north coastal Oregon.
Generally I don't buy water around here, I get it from my 60 year old water right down a pipeline.
Many folks were very helpful letting me know how to buy water in Baja Sur.
Please don't worry.

It appears that their thinking about it led to their decision to ask about it, eh?
