I think Mr Crosby was the first thing I read about Baja, so long ago, that I forgot. Then There was a book about a guy sent by the US fed to explore
Baja back in 1853 or some other year. After he ran out of water, the indians nursed him back to health. Then he reported to the fed it, (baja), was
a waste land. So, the fed never tried to claim baja. I still think he lied to help the indians who saved him. Then I found out baja was donkey
friendly, so I figured bicycles were ok too.

Mr. Crosby has written many a book, it is a lot of work, I don't wish that kind of work, anymore, on him.

As for El Camino Real, again, I have posted many times on its location and included Google Earth images to show where you can see it, south of Santa
María to San Javier. Modern construction, including Hwy. 5 right now near Gonzaga Bay has obliterated it in many places.

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
I have not seen woodchucks in baja, but I have seen a badger.
I am not aware of paintings of badgers.

Wow! Harry is 90 and doing great. Thanks for that link, he is truly a peninsular treasure. If you look closely the Bradshaw documentary is based on
the Harry interview footage from the 2003 booksigning event.

Cave paintings off San Borja road
We were planning to go see them again last week.
All the signs on the LAB highway and the San Borja dirt road have been removed.
You can still drive up there but it is in a pretty soft sand wash and we had no proper vehicles to chance getting stuck so passed on the side trip
Interesting that the signs are all gone
Someone either wants the place left alone, or the LAB guides are trying to keep it a secret

I did a full photo spread in my February trip report for Montevideo. The road is now a 4WD run and some brush scratching going in. There are two signs
at the junction, one points to L.A. Bay and the other to San Borja, but none to what's up the road that comes in there! Glad you went!

Seems there are many more pintura repestre then we thought. How do you find them? Find a nice rock to nap on in the afternoon shade. When you wake
from your nap they are right in front of you. I heard a story about the day of 2 suns rising in the sky. I cut my search short because it got up
past 100 and I had little water. Then I chanced upon a women with a parasol standing in the desert alone, takeing photos of wild flowers.

That was a great President's Day weekend group trip. El Camote did a great job with filming and music choice. Four months later, we toured with El
Camote filming the BBBB-1 party at Cielito Lindo and then the Viva Baja Van tour and Lost Mission Search south of L.A. Bay. That was 16 years ago and
now Sarah has a daughter who is 6 and ready to begin her Baja trips!
