In other words practice what the same “Woke” call multiculturalism when groups move to the US and do the same thing!

??? I have never heard any "general rant" from whatever you are referring to as "the woke" like that. Quite to the contrary, the "woke", which refers
to, as the poster after you said, not being discriminatory or predjudiced, advocate for muticulturalism and people being able to preserve their own
customs and languages no matter where they may move to.
But that is not the same thing as refusing to integrate into the culture of your chosen place to retire, not showing respect for their customs, nor
thinking it behooves you to learn the language. Those things are a matter of respect. It's actually a mystery to me why anyone would choose to not
bother to learn the language of a country they move to, and therefore don't understand half of what's going on around them, need to hire facilitators
for any official business, and can't communicate in any but superficial ways with the native people of their adopted country. It shows a lack of
curiosity or interest in anything outside of their own small world.

You say it's a mystery and then explain it in the last sentence. If they're happy in their world, well, OK. So what?

Surabi,
I was referring to the “Woke” in the US who are complaining about Gringos and probably Canadians moving to Mexico and not integrating into Mexico.
The same Woke in the US feel that people coming to the US don’t need to learn English or integrate into US culture! They write in US publications.

Well, I am not aware of those publications and articles but I doubt if the authors of them describe themselves as "woke". That term is assigned to
them by people who disagree with them and want to denigrate them.
Personally, I think anyone who emigrates to another country should make the effort to learn the language and slowly integrate into the culture and
society, and that doesn't mean they have to give up their own culture and traditions. Both can co-exist.
But you are talking about 2 quite different demographics of people. Middle class retirees who move to other countries have a lot of free time and are
not destitute. They don't have families to raise any more, they don't have to go to work everyday. They are free to putter around with their interests
and hobbies, go out to eat several times a week, socialize with their friends, go on excursions. Nothing wrong with that- most earned a comfortable
retirement with a lifetime of hard work. The only really difficult things they may have to deal with are health issues. So they do have free time to
take Spanish courses, learn things about the culture and participate in community projects and volunteer work. And many do. But many live insular
lives, only hanging out with other gringoes, the only Mexicans they get to know are on a very superficial level, working as their maids or gardeners,
or as shopkeepers. They can live in Mexico for 20 years and never manage to be able to speak or understand one simple Spanish sentence. I know a woman
who has lived here for 15 years ask me, "What does 'porque' mean?"
Compare that to an immigrant mom with 3 kids in the US who works all day looking after someone else's children and scrubbing out their toilets and
doing their shopping and preparing their dinner, after which she goes home and prepares dinner for her own family, does the laundry, tidies up the
house and maybe has time to spend a little quality time with her kids before falling into bed exhausted. She doesn't exactly have time to take English
classes, she'll learn English by osmosis from the kids and families she works for. It may be a slow process. And if she has to go attend an
immigration hearing, she needs to understand clearly what is being said, she can't afford to hire a translator, so she needs a translator to be
provided. To begrudge her that, when the work she does enables a privileged American family to go off to their high-powered jobs all day, so they can
afford an up-scale lifestyle, seems mean-spirited.

When I started this thread, I simply asked if N American citizens living in Baja full or part time have opinions of Baja natives having negative or
positive attitudes to increased foreign numbers driving prices up on housing and commodities. An article addressing this problem in Mexico City was
given as an example.
How this question evolved into charges using the ever popular “racist” charges and the usual suspects rhetoric that never progressed beyond grade
school name calling and petty insults is puzzling..Fortunately there are enough informed individuals that contribute their experiences livin in Baja
that are appreciated.

I had subscribed to this topic because the original post was very relevant to me. It didn't take long before it spiraled into a thread about the
viability of a human fetus or what constitutes a racist. I don't know how we got here, but it's definitely not the destination.

Bottom line,, most people are self-centered idiots that always "think" they are in the right............
They cannot and will not, EVER consider anyone else's way of thinking or views.
An old saying comes to mind ....
When you're young, your hips are narrow and your mind is broad
When most get old, it reverses ...
One caveat ; I'm NOT saying everyone here is an idiot,,, but IF it gets you a little offended, then chances are you NOT an idiot.....
Most idiots never realize they are idiots...

And why exactly did you pick me out of the crowd to chastize for going off topic?
If you read back over this thread from the beginning, you will see that I wasn't the one who started talking about these things, nor the only one who
commented on them. As per usual, JZ felt he needed to jump in on the the first page with his long list of political and social grievances, full of his
prejudice, presented as fact.
If you feel it necessary to call out others for derailing a thread, you might start with the original perpetrators.

I'd go as far as to say that the question of legal abortion access is pertinent to someone who is trying to determine whether or not a
destination has stricter laws than the U.S. According to Wikipedia abortion is no longer a crime in Mexico, but it's only available in Mexico City and 8 states (including BC and BCS), and only during the
first 12 weeks.

7 July:
https://www.borderreport.com/news/abortion-clinic-opens-near...
"TIJUANA (Border Report) — A new abortion clinic has opened its doors in Tijuana not too far from the border, making it easily accessible to
American women seeking to terminate their pregnancies.
The facility, located in Tijuana’s popular Zona Río, will be operated by the Marie Stopes International Foundation, which runs clinics in 37 countries."

The pot calling the kettle black, eh?
Woke!
“...ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.” “My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America
will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.”
Prefered gender pronoun: the royal we

Post your proof of your statement of JZ lying here, there may be others interested. And I stand by the accuracy of the article posted. You have a
problem with that?

From Sputnik's website:
"Sputnik HQ is located in Moscow."
"The Sputnik brand was launched on November 10, 2014, by the Russian media group Rossiya Segodnya."
From Wikipedia:
"Rossiya Segodnya is a media group owned and operated by the Russian government."
It's published in 30 languages.
I think I'll read their articles about the Ukrainian "special military operation". Russkie style propaganda.......for a change.

SFandH,
Back in the ‘70s Sputnik was a paper periodical published in Russian but printed and distributed from Finland. It was CCCP propaganda! I learned to
read Russian from it!
So it seems Putin brought back something else from his time at the “All Russia Insurance building” (KGB HQ in Moscow)!
