That's right. IMHO, it's almost impossible to stop the smuggling of high-value, low-volume items like meth, fentanyl, and heroin. One tactic the cartel uses is to take a large amount, say 10 pounds of meth, break it up into 1-pound packages, and use 10 cars to get it through the border, knowing that the majority will make it.

We could try what Netherlands did and decriminalize posession of all drugs, register users and supply them with the controlled drugs while enrolling them in treatment programs. Altho growth of deaths there doesn't seem to be much lower at present.
If we were seeing this many soldier deaths each year in a war we'd be rioting. And this is no longer a street problem, as over 3/4 of the deaths occur in residences. Soon we will all know a family that has lost a child to this scourge.
I will applaud the efforts of the CBP as they try to do their bit with the resources and limitations they are supplied with.

More resources can be dedicated to the ports of entry once the border is relatively secure.

Who's going to pay for this secure border? Mexico? Brazil? Venezuela? US taxpayers?

How much are we already spending? How much more do we need?

Raise taxes? Cut taxes? Borrow money? Think about it, and it will happen
like declassifying documents?

Ideas without a plan are useless.

It was a lot more secure before 2021... and if the wall was allowed to finish, the border patrol could more easily manage the limited illegal crossings. The cost of not having a secure border is a hundred times greater... a thousand times, perhaps.

Define "a lot more secure" please.

Border crossings are up, but just above 1986 and 2000 levels. Who was in the Oval Office during those years? Have you asked yourself why so many people are crossing? Why in 1986 and 2004?

https://www.wola.org/analysis/us-government-2018-border-data...

Government spending on enforcement has gone up every year since 2004.

https://www.americanimmigrationcouncil.org/research/the-cost...

Hard to make the case that it's one man's responsibility. The rest of your argument is just unsupportable hyperbole.

Idjit. Do you have inside knowledge that this man had just gotten a vaccination, or do you just jump on any thread to randomly post your misinformation?

Take the $500B they have planned to give white people to repay student loans (e.g. Biden Buying Votes Act of 2022) and put it towards a much better use.

Then start a legit and organized legal immigration program.

Goat,

CNN admitted that they had opinion 24/7 not news. That’s why they fired so many of the old regimes people and moved others to where no one watches them.

I have a better idea.

If businesses that got "loan forgiveness" from the PPP program paid back that money, it would be a lot more than $500B.

10.2 million businesses got loans forgiven under the PPP. Out of 11 million loans, more than 90% forgiven. Corporate welfare at it's best.

10 million x $72,500 (average loan) = $725B

https://www.pandemicoversight.gov/data-interactive-tools/dat...

Know any of those businesses?

And, we've all been waiting for Congress to pass immigration reform since at least the early 1990's, through all administrations up until today. What's the magic trick needed to get that to happen?

You can do better.

John

Difference situations:

Govt. restricted businesses ability to do business with lock downs. Govt. gave businesses money so they didn't fire employees. The money was to pay employees. This was during the height of the pandemic.

Re student loans, the govt. did the correct thing at first by halting loan repayments during the crisis. It also gave people tons of stimulus.

To forgive loans when the pandemic is over is just a hand out to mostly middle class white ppl. The NAACP is screaming about it. It's a stunt to buy votes.

One was done by bi-partisan legislation. One was done by an illegal executive order. Thankfully the latter will be blocked by the courts.

Stop reading opinion pieces in the NYTs.

$500B to individuals, bad. Inflationary.

$725B to business (you), good. Not inflationary.

I think I got it. Thanks for clearing that up.
