I have quite a few implants both here in the US as well in Mexico so i can speak from a point of experience and I am concerned with some of the advice you are getting here. Go to a real implant specialist especially since you need a sinus lift. It will be a 7 to 8 month process. Please U2U me if you want more information.

Good advice, bajagregg. I had an implant done by an incompetent dentist who couldn't get the tooth on after the implant site had healed, having to drill away bone that had grown over the implant, causing me a lot of pain and suffering. I found another implant specialist who came highly recommended, who told me the problem was that the other dentist had placed the implant too low in my jaw, which is why bone kept growing over it and why the crown couldn't be attached. He had to add an abutment to the implant so it was high enough to hold the tooth.

I use that dental office all the time now (I'm on the mainland, not Baja) and while the younger dentist, who I really like, does most of my dental work, he isn't yet a licensed dental surgeon- the older man is and handles the implants, root canals, etc.

While it's fine to get implants in Mexico by a licensed, experienced dental surgeon (not just a "dentist") you have excellent recommendations for, and it will certainly be less expensive than getting them in the US or Canada, it isn't something you want to be looking for the best deal on- it's invasive surgery that can be disastrous and dangerous if not done right.

Thanks, I U2U'd you.

Dentist that I worked with earlier, majored in Endodontics with training in "basic implant dentistry" in Mexico, then training in "advanced implant placement and grafting" in the US. Getting a training doesn't mean licensed, and even then, there are varying levels of skills and attitude. His first crown job was Ok, the one some years later - hmm.. not sure.
