I never had any problems at the military checkpoints, whether I crossed in July or January. They were always polite, never pulled any weird stuff, just doing their job.

Stupid comment #342. Why would an officer try to shake down a local Mexican? Odds are they don't have an extra $20-200 in their wallets.

But gringos do, most of the time. So of course they pull over gringos to shake down. More profitable.

Three times I have encountered temporary check points that were set up
and checking Mexican plated cars while waving US (and presumably Canadian) cars through.

They didn't even ask where I was coming from or where I was going.




If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!
