Lots of websites that pick up cartel violence but all of them miss a lot of stories. Unfortunately, there are too many cartel killings for any of the
news sites to run all the stories.

The video link works for me.
Here's where the image used in the video came from:
https://www.freepik.es/fotos-premium/rostro-hombre-encapucha...
I guess we should assume it's a real threat. Who knows?
Sounds like the business agreement between the drug runners and the local cops has broken down. I wonder how many drugs are offloaded from boats in
San Felipe and driven up to the border, the "Tijuana Plaza."
I recommend folks drive through TJ.......................

"Okay boomer" is a snotty, disrespectful phrase used by arrogant know-nothings who think they know more than people with far more life experience.
Makes whoever uses the phrase sound like a 14 year old.

No need for you to be scared, youngen. Oakland has a population of over 430,000. Now, if you were in San Filipe with what has been reported this week,
you might have cause for concern, as it has a population of only 17,000.

There appears to be some disrespect to those who have dedicated decades toward preserving the love of Baja that we all share in our ways on this forum
and others.
The thought that comes to my mind is derived from a fellow Baja lover.
'Youth is wasted on the young'. I will also add, inexperienced. Time passed gives us all a perspective that is gained only through time spent.
Any shortsightedness should be forgivable. it is more than easy for me after fifty plus years to see what certain less time spent individuals need to
open their minds to embrace.
Most of our respected elders on this forum have always been an enduring treasure deserving of respect and why I check in here every day.
Is that too much to ask?

Below is an English translation of the article linked by Goat. My appologies for any errors that there might be.
"MEXICALI. The Prosecutor for Crimes Against Life of the State Attorney General's Office, Miguel Ángel Gaxiola, commented that they are carrying out
the relevant investigations in relation to the 4 homicides that recently occurred in San Felipe.
On Friday, December 20, Francisco Javier García Arce, 37, lost his life in the port. The deceased apparently has a criminal record for robbery and
drug dealing. On the afternoon of December 24, the brothers Andrés and Alejandro Mandujano Ramírez, 50 and 42 years old respectively, were found
dead and a message from a criminal group was placed on one of the bodies.
On the same day, Pablo Meza Lugo also lost his life by gunfire.
In this regard, the FGE official stated that so far they have no information that indicates that the events are related, in addition, he said that
they are investigating to determine the motive for the homicides.
Finally, he explained that they work in coordination with the Secretary of the Navy, who has provided them with certain information. He also commented
that they are investigating whether the attacks perpetrated correspond to a reaction to the security actions established in the municipality.
On the subject, Mayor José Luis Dagnino López expressed that before the acts of violence in the Municipality of San Felipe, there was coordination
between the three levels of government that guarantees the tranquility of citizens.
Through social networks, he detailed that deployment of elements and units have been implemented, the installation of control points in strategic
areas, in addition to the control center (C5) being active, working together to respond in a timely and effective manner to any situation that
arises."

Below is an English translation of the article linked by SFandH. My apologies for any errors that there might be.
"On Christmas Eve, two brothers were murdered in the municipality of San Felipe, who, presumably, were children of the person who served as port
delegate, whose last name is Mandujano.
The events occurred on the afternoon of December 24, when agents of the San Felipe municipal police, after receiving an anonymous report to the
emergency numbers, went to a business located at kilometer 181.4 of federal highway number 5.
Upon arriving at the scene, the agents located the lifeless body of a man, covered with a colorful blanket. Additionally, on the side of the premises,
they found the body of another subject, who was wearing a black sweatshirt and blue pants. The latter had gunshot wounds to the head, so the
intervention of experts from the State Attorney General's Office was requested to begin the corresponding investigations.
The victims were identified as Andrés Mandujano Ramírez, 50 years old, and Alejandro Mandujano Ramírez, 42 years old. Last November, an armed
attack was recorded in the same port of San Felipe, specifically at a home on Olmos Street, in the Los Arcos neighborhood. In that event, a
16-year-old minor and a 27-year-old man, identified as Pedro, lost their lives."

Both article translations are a combination of Google Translate and what I think the articles are saying. I have not added anything to the Google
translation, but I have made a few deletions and changes of grammar.

I'm the "boomer" (77) who started this thread; I should mention that I have only 50 years of driving, camping, surfing, fishing and home-building in
Baja and mainland Mexico. Gracias to those who have contributed useful information as I prepare to travel South on Sunday...yes, through S. Felipe.
To some of the other commenters: It seems that you were just lying in wait for a chance to ridicule us tribal elders and trot out the trendy
"pearl-clutching" trope. Sorry you had to wait years for GPS coordinates, online weather forecasts, trip and road condition reports and the rest of
the conveniences brought by social media before daring to cross the border. Have a nice day.

David, things seem to have settled down now so I wouldn't give it a second thought.
For reference, a good friend of mine in town who matters here has not had much worry about all this from the start. If he had I would be nervous.

Just drove through SF on 12/27. No problems. Nothing unusual. No extra military or police presence noticed. Travel in daylight (duh!!!) and all will
be ok.

As I stated earlier in this thread, the large police presence I noticed was headed back toward Mexicali on the 25th.

As one who is a couple years too old to be a Boomer I never hesitate to blame my slightly younger friends for anything that might offend me in the
world they created. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it.
