Leon Negra - the best Mexican beer in my opinion. I love it warm or cold. Well, I like it better cold. Too bad it's not available in Baja. I don't see why it's not available in Baja; it's now made in several Mexican states.

Dennis, did you notice on the Moctezuma site how they appear to favor selling beer using beautiful women?

What a concept!!!! Some kinda international, universal appeal going on there, huh?

Pardon us, ladies, but we're just reporting, here.......

Hook --

Oh yeah. The message about living my fantasies was right by the ****ty one in the prone position. I'm going to find some Superior beer if I have to buy it online.
By the way, have you seen the Tecate Girls in living flesh? Same sales plan. Very sophisticated.

GIRLS IN BEER ADVERTISING...

I used to work in the beer business and my favorites were always the St. Pauli Girls. We used to give out lots of their posters!!

Here's the link to PAST St Pauli Girls.

The 2007 St. Pauli Girl (as seen below) is the prettiest of the St. Pauli Girls in my opinion. But I still like the real German girl I posted above better. It takes a good girl to be able to hold 5 steins like she does.

St. Pauli Girls

I liked all the S.P. girls from 1982-1985. They looked MUCH BETTER on their posters than in the pictures link I posted above.

The 1984 S.P.G. is the definitive S.P.G. as I've always known. I remember looking at that poster in a neighborhood pizza joint masquerading as a German beer hall. I remember the tables butted together in rows filled with enthusiastic young men drinking, talking and carrying on. It truly felt like a German beer hall. They had a special on large steins of Heineken. Good times while it lasted - it got closed down for serving to minors. I had the same poster on the wall of my dad's garage. I was still under 21 myself at the time.

Bajalero -----

I may be standing corrected on availability of Carta Blanca Quitapones. I went to my local store and all they had was Light. I asked the counter girl and all I got was one of those patented Mexican shrugs, the "Who knows " type. I have to look into this.

Carta Blanca

Anyone know definitively where regular Carta Blanca is sold in Baja? Far better than other Mex beers. Haven't seen it for years, except in a little village store south of Mazatlan. 40 pesos for a sixpack - no deposito! Shoulda cleaned out the cooler ...
Oh well.

Check out the larger supermercados like Ley or Calimax.or Gigante. I thought I saw it recently. Same no deposit bottles with the opener.

Moctezuma v. Modelo

News for us new kids on the Baja....This comes from elpatiobar.com website in Ensenada. See how much I have to learn while living here???

"IN MEXICO, IF YOU ARE A BEER SELLING BUSINESS, YOU CAN ONLY CHOOSE BETWEEN TWO BEER COMPANIES. "MOCTEZUMA" AND "MODELO". ALTHOUGH JUST RECENTLY A THIRD SMALL LOCAL VENTURE HAS EMERGED WITH ONE PRESENTATION "MEXICALI BEER" IT IS HARD TO FIND DUE TO THE FACT THAT MOST ESTABLISHMENTS, BE IT BAR OR LIQUOR STORE, "MARRY" ONE OF THE TWO BIG ONES.
WE CALL IT "MARRIAGE" BECAUSE WHICH EVER ONE YOU CHOOSE, YOU CAN ONLY SELL THEIR PRODUCT. IN RETURN THE BEER CO. SUPPLIES YOU WITH EQUIPMENT, SIGNS, CASH TO BUILT YOUR BARALIQUOR STORE AND MOST IMPORTANT "T H E P E R M I T."
ONE CAN DIVORVE ANY TIME AFTER ONE HAS PAYD BACK CASH LOANS AND IF ONE HAS OR AQUIRED THE PERMIT INDEPENDENTLY. IF THIS OCCURRED, THE BEER CO. WOULD TAKE ALL SIGNS AND REFRIGERATORS AND EQUIPMENT AWAY. ONE WOULD HAVE TO REEQUIP $$$$$$$$$ AND THEN ONE COULD SELL ANY BEER ABAILABLE IN MEXICO. WE MENTION THIS BECAUSE MANY CUSTOMERS DONT UNDERSTAND WHY WE DO NOT SELL CORONA OR PACIFICO.

WHAT DO WE SERVE?

SO HERE AL EL PATIO, YES, WE ARE MARRIED AND TO "MOCTEZUMA". AND LET US TELL YOU IT HAS BEEN A WONDERFUL FOUR YEARS. THE HONEY MOON HASN'T ENDED YET. BUT YOU SEE, FOR US IT WAS SIMPLE, IT WAS BETWEEN BEING ABLE TO OFFER TO OUR CLIENTS "MODELO" WITH CORONA & PACIFICO (2 PRESENTATIONS) OR "MOCTEZUMA" WITH TECATE, TECATE LIGHT, DOS XX LAGER, DOS XX AMBAR, SOL, BOHEMIA AND CARTABLANCA (7 PRESENTATIONS). SO YOU SEE, IT WAS NOT A MATTER OF TASTE OR FADS, BUT CHOICE.
WE ARE CERTAIN THAT YOU WILL FIND A TASTE THAT MOST SUITS YOUR PALAD WITH OUR SELECTION. HERE ARE SOME HELPFUL HINTS ABOUT EACH BEER-

~ XX LAGER ESPECIAL-
THIS IS THE ONLY LAGER BEER IN MEXICO (COMMERCIAL WISE). IT SALES WORLWIDE AND ITS KNOWN FOR IT'S UNBEATABLE CLEAR AND LIGHT TASTE WITH A BITE OF SOURNESS. GREAT TASTING. ONE OF OUR MOST POPULAR.

XX AMBAR-
THIS BEER HAS BEEN SITTING ON U.S. STORES SHELVES SINCE THE EARLY 8O'S, MAYBE LATE 70'S WHEN IT BECAME A FAD. TODAY, IT IS BECOMMING POPULAR WITHIN MEXICO. NO WONDER,THIS BEER IS EXCELLENT! IF YOU LIKE A BEER NOT TOO LIGHT AND NOT TOO DARK BUT WITH THAT BOLD AND BIG CHARACTER TEAST, WELL THIS IS THE ONE. NOT AVAILABLE IN MOST BARS AND/OR LIQUOR STORES IN MEXICO. GO FIGURE. WE SUGEST THIS BEER SERVED AS A *"MICHELADA-"

TECATE-
THIS LONG-TIME LOCAL COMPANY "TECATE" BASED IN TECATE BAJA CALIFORNIA MERGED WITH BIG MOCTEZUMA A DECADE A GO OR SO AND TODAY SALES WORLWIDE AND IS MEXICO'S # I BEER- IT'S GREAT TASTING. TRY IT WITH A BIT OF SALT AND LEMON. IrS THE CANT-GO-WRONG BEER.

TECATE LIGHT-
MEXICO'S FIRST "LIGHT- (LESS CALORIES-LESS FILLING) BEER EVER. RECOMMENDED FOR THOSE WHATCHING THEIR WHEIGHT. GOOD BEER.

SOL-
THIS BEER HAS BEEN IN PRODUCTION SINCE THE EARLY 70'S, HOWEVER, IT ONLY SOLD IN THE INTERIOR PART OF MEXICO. ONLY RECENTLY THAT THE CLEAR-BOTTLED CORONA BECAME A FAD AMONGST U.S. CITIZENS, DID MOCTEZUMA EXPANDED ITS DISTRIBUTION TO ALL OF MEXICO AND ABROAD AND STARTED A FENOMENAL ADVERTIZING CAMPAING IN THE U.S. IT DOES NOT TASTE LIKE CORONA. HOWEVER, IF YOU LIKE CORONA, THIS IS AS CLOSE AS YOU CAN GET. GREAT BEER, REALLY.

CARTA BLANCA**-
THIS BEER NEEDS NO INTRODUCTION. IT IS MEXICOS OLDES BEER AND STILL KICKING. STRONG TASTE.

BOHEMIA-
THE BEST!!!!!! WE BELIEVE BOHEMIA BEER TO BE THE BEST TASTING, THE BEST CHARACTER, MOST BODY, EXCELLENT AND ADICTIVE AFTER TASTE. JUST THE BEST!!!! 1! (IN OUR OPPINION).

* M I C H E L A D A: (MEE-SHALADA)-
A NEW REFRESHING WAY TO DRINK YOUR MEXICAN BEER. EXTREMELY POPULAR ALL OVER MEXICO. CONSIST OF:
SALTED RIM BEER GLASS, FILL 3/4 OF GLASS WITH ICE, 2 - 3 OZ OFF FRESHLY SQUIZED LEMON JUICE, POUR IN THE BEER AND STIR. SOME SAY THIS RUINS THE ACTUAL BEER TASTE AND THE POINT OF DRINKING IT. BUT DO NOT DARE, SAYING THIS TO PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN CITIES WHERE TEMPERATURES REACH ABOVE 90 DEGREES TRI IT, YOU NEVER HAD BEER THIS WAY BEFORE.

** WE DO NOT SELL CARTABLANCA ANY MORE. SORRY

NOTE: SOME OF THE DATES MIGHT BE OFF A LITTLE. AND, THE OPINIONS AND DESCRIPTIONS LISTED ABOVE ARE SOLY OF EL PATIO AND DO NOT REPRESENT FACTUAL STUDIES AND/OR POLLS FROM ANY PARTICULAR AND/OR PRIVATE ENTERPRISE.

TRIVIA-
DID YOU KNOW THAT OUR BEER COMPANY INVENTED THE BROWN BEER BOTTLE YOU SEE TODAY ON ALMOST ALL BEERS? THIS TO PROTECT BEER FROM SUNLIGHT.

DID YOU KNOW THAT TECATE BEER WAS THE FIRST CANNED BEER IN THE WORLD?

DID YOU KNOW THAT CARTA BLANCA BEER WAS THE FTRST "TWIST OPEN"BEER IN THE WORLD? AND WITH ITS OWN CAP OPENER ON THE BOTTOM OF ITS BOTTLE?"

Thanks to El Patio. Need to visit for research. Found their website thanks to my bro Jack in Denver, a Bohemia and Negra Modelo FAN!
