You damn right they are not meant for roads and for sure not on roads with traffic doing the speed limit of 40-60 mph and these marooons doing 5-10
mph...you cannot be so "enlighten" as to think that is safe. In 5-10 years when the traffic exceeds safety for even cars...you will still be saying
you have a right to the road. I say register these aholes charge them $20,000 a year in vehicle fees and build roads for them...don't expect us to
foot the bill and give you a free ride.
The riders should be smoged for sweat oder and excess gassing |
Be careful where you start tossing your bombs....
May I suggest we get rid of the oversized RVs that aren't meant for such a small road? Or the old geezers trying to navigate
them....???
Not trying to start any wars but just a friendly reminder to look in the mirror and lighten up a bit.

If you cannot drive a large RV on Mex 1 without a problem...you should stay out of them. The only problem I have is with Bicycles and and young and
dumbers pulling campers. I still manage to keep myself AND them safe...

the other direction. It would be great when they're caravaning they could at least leave some room inbeween their rigs to fit in when
passing. |
I have the skill level to keep my right front tire on the white line and trucks do the same thing...I have never had my mirror broken...your truck is
2' norrower...what is your problem???
There is no doubt you should stay out of anything beyond the young and dumber skill level.
I pay for the right in taxes and lic. fees to drive my rig anywhere I want to...Now I am sure you can agree...you should to.
This is not a bomb...You know bicycles have NO right (free ride or danger to others) on the road and certinly not Mex 1.
I do not want my life affected by lame brain bicyclists!!!:moon:

Al G, I was all the way over to my right, the oncoming RV was a foot over the line into my lane. It's not my skills that were the problem.

I said if you cannot drive an RV safely stay out of them...never seen an RV or anything 18" over the yellow line in a on coming pass...will take your
word...that how it happen. The driver must have been asleep maybe...
BTW...I don't like caravans either...Some of them should be driving a truck anyway

Enough about RV...not the problem...Bicycles are the danger...
Give me a solution and not an excuse.

I and many bicyclists probably pay more road costs than you thru non-fuel taxes paid. If we use your logic, I say tax the cars for the true total
cost of roaad building and maintenance (i.e. 100% of road costs to come via motor fuel taxes and vehicle license fees -- Al, you won't like that if
you drive a lot). As it is now, cars get roads w/o paying fair share of road cost. Sorry, Al, bikes are legal vehicles and may use vehicle lanes
where necessary (avoiding the litter on shoulder tosssed their by car drivers), and you better learn to live with them, until the law changes.

Have been behind the behinds of too many bicyclists. If they'd only get out
of the middle of the road?

Huh. I've seen it happen a few times and it always tightens my sphincter....... |
Not to be picky...How did you manage to pass without a head-on?
Were you in a taco? Truckers and buses do not give much respect to small vehicles...otherwise the driver would have to be out of it...not the norm
IMO. I also will say again...some drivers do not have the skill to drive a motorhome...Back to bicycles please |

You need to reduce your speed if you can't see around a corner. You are more likely to hit a cow than a bike -- driving too fast around blind corners
on hwy 1 is silly. You may be lobbying to ban bikes, but I doubt you will get very far lobbying to ban cows. Collide with a cow, and the 1,000 lb
cow with will probably kill you or destoy your too big SUV or RV.
Gringos and their obsession with cars! I say tax the car owner until they scream. Too long has my town been slave to building roads. I say you all
need to use high speed trains, and take your bike with you. A little bit of exercise would be good for you, to work off all those tortillas and
pacifico

I NEVER drive to fast under any conditions...NEVER...and if I hit a cow, I assure you I will feel different then if
I kill your a$$.
We are all human and humans can make mistakes...I will hurt and feel bad...YOU will pay for that mistake with your life...for your stupidity.

While I wouldn't ride a bike down Hwy 1 myself; I don't see a problem with people doing it. Is it crazy? To me yes.. but lots of people in cars and
trucks are crazy too.
If you are driving a big rig or RV around a corner so fast that you couldn't miss a bicyclist if a truck was coming the other way, what would you do
if a family of 5 was sitting around the corner in a disabled minivan?
I guess we should ban minivans too.
I rode a bike around town for years; because, I had no car. I've been hit a few times times, and each time was by an inattentive driver that violated
my right-of-way. Cars will often pull out in front of bike riders in situations when they would never pull out in front of cars. They never think of
the other person, can they stop, will they be hurt, just.. me me me.
Yes, here in California bikes have "right-of-way" just like cars and are expected to ride on the road, not the sidewalk, and follow the same rules as
cars. I'll admit many bike riders don't follow the laws; but, you have to also admit just as many drivers break laws all the time.
I have two turns on the road by where I live and often see drivers stop at a yield sign with no traffic to yield to, then drive 1/2 block to a stop
sign which they run. I'd say they just didn't care about the law, except they stopped at a yield sign that took a little skill to look for cars and
drive at the same time. In reality.. it is just unskilled drivers that never took the time to learn the law.
I had a guy bump me(almost kill me), honk at me, and yell at me to get on the sidewalk because he didn't have the skills to safely pass a bicyclist on
a road with 3 lanes going his direction. He then pulled into a gas station down the road 1/4 mile to get gas.
I can't tell you how much I wanted to pull into that gas station and chew the guy out or worse. But, being smarter than your average unskilled
driver; I realized, everyone at the gas station would just see a "crazy bicyclist" confront the guy for seemingly no reason.
People in cars often have no clue; as some bikers have no clue as well. A little bump to you, is lifelong injury or death to the rider. Bike riders
have to put up with so much @#$! most people would loose it. By law, they have the same rights as cars.
So deal with it, or at least do a better job explaining to me how sitting on your arse in an air conditioned cab, spinning a wheel with your hands and
pushing pedals with your feet, is so hard that you just can't bear to slow down enough to share the world with people on bicycles or pedestrians. I
know it is annoying to deal with bikers; but, life is full of annoyances we all have to deal with.
Keep driving faster than conditions allow and maybe I will put some flowers on your cross on the side of the road sometime.
Just because a bike rider is killed by some unskilled, maniac driver, that probably does not know the laws in which they are bound to obey.. does not
make the bike rider stupid.
Edited for syntax..

Yep, I hear you... wasn't really referring to anybody in particular; but, just the general anti-bike get out of my way I'm more important than you
attitude expressed by some.
I agree with you.. it is BS to have a car blocking slowing traffic.. just creates a bigger hazard. Yep, I said hazard. Bike riders can and will be
hazards. More often it is other drivers or cows.
Personally, I ridden tens of thousands of miles on the Mexican bus system. The long haul bus drivers are some of the best drivers out there. I've
been in a bus going around a blind turn to see to everyones horror, a truck with a bus passing it coming towards us in our lane.
Some emergency braking; followed by a high speed Mexican "smerge" and every thing was ok.
Just want to encourage everyone to slow down enough to enjoy the ride. Thats all really.
However; I do recommend to all people go fast and stress out in their next life if they feel they missed out on any stress in this life, but for now..
enjoy.

Once I had an ultralight airplane dealership where we taught, sold and repaired ultralights. We had a farmer who owned a lot of land adjacent to our
little airport and he became almost completely obsessed with an irrational fear of someone falling out of the air and crashing on his property. When
I was trying to deal with him around this issue, it came down to a strong fear that he would be the one who would be the first on the scene of an
accident and there would be "blood and guts" all over the place and he would have to experience that. I acknowledged his fear and concern and
suggested that he did not need to be an emergency responder and that the medical and EMT people would obviously be the ones who would take that
responsibility if anything should ever happen but that really did little to resolve the issue.
My wife has almost the same feeling when she sees a bicycle on the highway, and in Colorado we have a lot of those, and my reaction is more one of
passive disinterest and a kind of live and let live philosophy prevails. I think it would be a real lifetime experience to bicycle the baja but so
would playing "russian roulette".

My humble opinion is the bikes are not a problem as long as the auto and rv drivers keep there speeds safe. I live in colorado and seems like everone
rides bikes up here and is not a problem,
