vgabndo.... As someone said yesterday, it's a YOU to YOU, not a You to US. I for one would most appreciate you showing respect for that.... I don't wanta read your mail no matter what the content. And it has nada to do with my politics.

Nena: I'm sorry for the offense. The problem is I don't want to read my OWN u2u's when I get stuff like I posted which is only designed to kick sand in my face. After being accused of "fabricating" my assertion, I could't resist "outing" The Gull for what was not a confidential communication but a body slam for which he didn't want to be publicly responsible.

I am plenty familiar with what Gull thinks of me on the off-topic board, that is where it belongs. I guess I've proven myself not man enough to just let it pass when he brings it onto the Baja side of the board. Again, I'm sorry for the offense to you or anyone who thinks that these personal attacks should be kept private.

Well, vgabundo, you have proven yourself man enough to admit a mistake.... and that's alot.

Thanks for the apology. For the record, I wasn't "offended"... just really don't wanta read other people's personal mail... didn't want you and DK to be starting a trend.

And did you know that you can block u2u's from anyone you wish... they can send 'em to ya all they want, but you never have to see 'em.:light:

I disagree. If there's a problem, it should be reported to the moderators. I can think of no defensible justification for publishing private messages in an open forum without the author's permission.

Larry,

I have to yeild to a more considered response, and I have to agree with you, with only one exception: And that is if an actual threat is percieved , then perhaps the police should be involved.

:light:

That's an administrative and/or legal problem, not justification for a community dogfight. :)

According to generally accepted BBS protocol, U2U's are private messages. If we as a community decide we don't like those rules, let's define a new set which pertains to this group, not break them according to our personal interpretation of content.

--Larry

I have gone through the "Board Rules" and find no mention of U2Us. There is no mention of privacy implied or stated.

There is however mention of all transmissions and that under user agreement # 4 the following is stated "You agree not to post or transmit unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harrassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, profane, hateful, racially, ethnically, or otherwise objectionable material of any kind"

- CaboRon

Note: It is an open forum. In general if you don't want to read it in the news or hear it in a courtroom do not post it or send it over the internet.
