Memories of Tijuana
Many of us who grew up in the San Diego area, really grew up in Tijuana (I'm sure Barry A will agree to that). Some of the best memories were early
Sunday trips to the beach, near where Calafia is now. Surfing and diving all day, cooking up the lobster and abs on the fire all afternoon for a great
luau. Then heading home, stopping at the downtown bull ring for the bullfights. Afterwards, partying at the Foreign Club and dancing at the nearby
Capri til all hours. Monday mornings were usually tough at work, but we were young. Tijuana is still fun, but in a different way it seems.

Amo Tijuana Mucho
What a town it Was !
Having first sampled Tijuana as a young child in 1950 and spent many a great day and evening at Agua Caliente Race Track (Horses and Dogs) and the
Jai Alai Palace (the greatest 25 cent Hamburger ever), as a youth I thought it was Wonderland. At Fourteen, my dear old Dad treated me to my first TJ
lady and I returned many, many times in later years. After High School graduation weekend, two buddies and I drove straight to TJ to cruise and Booze
on Avenida Revolucion, "tasting" the local treats.
I even married a teenage girlfriend there once. She later found out that we weren't "really" married (she was 16), but by then it was OK.
There is probably no town anywhere that I have such fond memories of.
My kind of Town.

"Dear old Dad"
I thought it was cool when my Dad took me to a car race at 14. I got short changed.

Went almost every weekend in the mid 50's with my Dad. We went to Caliente Race Track. Horses en el dia y perros en la noche. I would always borrow
the keys to the car and visit the Club Macambo to watch the girls dance. Told him I was buying wallets.....but I am pretty sure he knew where I was
going. Never won the 5-10 but came close a few times. Hey, better than the sex education classes they offered in Junior High School.
If there is no fishing in heaven, I am not going

Around 1960 my younger brother came to California during the summer on a break from college and some of us took him to the Blue Fox for some sight
seeing. Some of the girls took a particular interest in my younger brother. He was very very young looking at the time.
We figured out later that they wanted to give it to him free if he was a virgin. I did not get that kind of offers.

In the Blue Fox era, "free" meant saving three dollars. The good ol' days when a peso was a peso.
