I think we are fairly close to being on the same page. My father has been "sober" for the past 20 years. If he wasn't I would support him. I would
also expect the full force and effect of the law to apply to him. Thought provoking honest posts are healthy. I am all for rehabilitation. I am all
for second chances. I am also for firm, just punishment. Although what the peson who is the subject of this poast did is irksome and inconvenient, he
did not deserve the physical trauma that resulted in his current condition (is he deceased??). However, the victim did not do anything to this person
intentionally so he brought it upon himself. I suspect that you don't understand why anyone would make fun of what happened to him. I am there with
you. But it has taken YEARS of maturity and experience to get me to where I am today. ....I will now read you article..thanx for providing it. ....j

Life is a process and I am on that same learning path myself. I have come a long way yet I know that I still have a ways to go in trying to figure
this whole thing about what true balance in life really means. Talking about it is a great way to get there and as long as we can have a civil and
thought provoking discussion we can all learn as well as develop a new appreciation for others experiences.
In the process we get to know each other better and perhaps a good friendship or two will result - even if we don't always share the same point of
view. That is not only OK, that makes life a little more interesting in my book.

It's not the wacky "sniff-and-get-woozy" ether, although I suspect I'd probably enjoy that...
Lately I prefer the thought of floating/traveling around floating through the ether rather than where I really am, which is: sitting here shivering in
Seattle! We had snow in April. Twice! The coldest May in the state's history. Temps running below normal in June; local newscasters are calling it
"Junuary" and regaling us with tidbits like the fact Sibera has been warmer than here. Work schedule currently doesn't allow a run for the border, and
it's making me a wee bit cranky.

I agree with soulpatch. Any crime hurts us all, one way or the other. I, too, have been a victim...even had a small gun placed at my forehead and
thought it was going to be the last thing I saw.
I have no pity what so ever for criminals and wrongdoers, schemers, scam artists, crooked cops or politicians.
I'm sorry but anyone doing anything even like the fellow described above gets exactly what he deserves.
Yes, it happens on both sides of the border as crime has no bounderies.
I have a friend whose cousin is serving a life sentence for a murder. He was with a group of young punk kids in which one of them decided to beat up
and rob another young kid. Things got out of hand and the kid died.Just because he was there with them, he got charged as if he actually did it. He's
served 22 years so far and was 18 when he went in. What a waste of a life. He was a regular teenage kid, just had some bad friends he hung out with
and now he's paying for it. Never listened to his parents or relatives, just wanted to "do his own thing."
I've not seen him since he went in but I'll bet a dollar to a donut he's sorry he went out that night with his so-called friends. You reap what you
sow, as they say. Literally killed his folks, too, as you can see the pain and sorrow in their eyes all the time.

In reading some of these threads it seems to me that there is an attempt to associate what the crook did and "punishment". He tried to rob somebody
of their property and got stuck underneath the car-an accident and not punishment.
However, I have no pity for the ratero.

Gypsy Jan ...in rereading this thread I am tempted to slap myself. Why am I wasting my time? I go to Baja Nomad to read such silliness? Some of the
responses are simply ridiculous. But what do u expect from a relatively anonymous public website? I guess people are just venting. I interview
criminals every day. I too have been a victim of several violent crimes but have not lost my humanity..atleast not yet. It takes a lot of patience to
remain this way, however. Just understand that the majority of people are fairly decent and level-headed. The majority. .....

I am neither young nor stupid. It is amazing how consistently negative the posts from supposedly tenured members of this website are. I suppose you
must believe that your age justifies the disrespect you spew. Whatever. I have earned my opinion and although far from liberal, I try to keep a
level-head. Being old and bitter is too easy but an absolute turn-off. Someone once told me that anger consumes atleast half of its own poison. That's
obviously not true..or maybe you both are absolute medical miracles! Congrats..

Okay, does anyone know if this supposed incident even really happened? I read both Frontera and El Mexicano every day online and saw no reports of
this incident...and God knows those papers looooove to report that kind of news. I also went to El Vigia and looked for a report there but found
nothing.
So I'm thinking this might be a case of much ado about nothing!

I think I intimated that you might be tenured..not old. At any rate, go to the video store and rent or buy the movie The Bucket List. You probably
