dennis and bancoduo are real classy guys, and such comedians (amongst their type)
re your search for place to live -- check out Ensenada. Pretty town, has better class of citizens than dennis and bancoduo, and from Ensenada you can
travel to San Diego via bus (doable as a long day trip).
problem with TJ is it's kind of a gritty dirty big city, with big city problems, but like all cities it has nice neighborhoods.

In a way she reminds me of another adventurous young lady on this board.

I'm not exactly sure what your needs are.. but you might also check out Mexicali. IMO it is much safer than TJ. It's hotter than hell here during
the summer.. but rent is pretty cheap in the nicer areas of town. (I pay $425 monthly for a nice 2 bedroom in one of the better neighborhoods).
Public transit here is not so good; but, you can get around.. it is just nothing like transit systems you are used to on the mainland. All the
locals say you need a car; but, if you don't move much (or need to get to work everyday) and live near a supermarket you could be fine.
Just a work of caution, you can spend a lot of money on your electrical bill to feed your A/C.
You also might consider what Dennis said about taking the bus from Ensenada, etc.. you could even look into San Felipe, Hermosillo, etc.. and take the
bus north when needed.. Not much across the border here in Mexicali as most people live south in Mexico.
Good luck and let me know if you have any questions about Mexicali.

geesh. Back to apt hunting...
Take a chance on Playas de Tijuana. It's not too hot becuase it's on the ocean- so even if you get a small place at first, you won't bake to death.
The residents are a step up from the normal Tijuanaeros. It's close as close to the USA you can get without being there (physically anyway). Just
google map it and look around.

Yes, I know where the Playas is.. But i have heardof dificulty getting to a from at night, etc and it being dangerous doing so... I have heard
without a car its better to be downtown.
Listen Folks.. I know I wont be finding a place online before I get there.. It is not and has not been my goal in doing the forum thing.. Its to
get leads, and make contatcts, and get a better idea of what area to look in when I get there.. Thats all... I am realistic, and I know how things
work.... so please dont assume I am apartment hunting.. I am looking for areas.. Now, granted, if someone has a place, or knows of a place.. all
the better, BUTwoth that said, please know thats what I am doing.. I lkike to be prepared and with the short time I have to prepare, this is the best
thing I could think of to do..
OK... Please, If you DO NOT live in Baja California , MEXICO, then please don't respond. How could you possibly help me from what youve heard, or
seem driving through or staying on vacation... Sorry to be rude, BUT I need first hand advice, form people living there, NOT from people in the
states..
Thanks

MexicoGringoGuy had already decided to move to downtown TJ before he posted his first question here. He is only looking for validation of his
decision. Any post that either disagrees with his decision or tries to dissuade him is met with a litany of counter questions from him.
He already has all the information he will ever need.

What is you peoples problem... its so sunny how negative you people can
be... honestly!!! I never asked for validation.... BUt yes your right I already decided I was going to move.. and if you will read this entire
post, you will see that my question was basiclly what area of TJ to look at.... SO why are you attacking me saying such things....
I ask questions BECAUSE I HAVE QUESTIONS.. and if people say something... I want to know WHY.. I want to know their reasoning, and how or why they
came to the conclusion that they did..
I dont need or want anyone to tell me to move to TJ, or not to move to TJ.. because I am moving to TJ.. so its a Mute point.. All I asked for was
some advice for people that knew what they were talking about, that lives in TJ what area would eb the best for one in my situation... That's it..
So.. all you negative people go away and be negative elsewhere because your not helping me with advice, nor are you benifiting this forum by saying
negative things... Go away and fing somehting else to do with your time..
To those who havbent been negative to me, thanks, and I hope you dont think I am the way these people say... I asked a question, and I will keep
asking questions, untillI know all about the place... I will also answer questions once I know anything about the place, its the way it is...

Can't believe this thread is still going.
Anyway, as someone who lived for 2 years in Rosarito, and 2 years in Playas, I can say that you will be perfectly safe in both locations so long as
you act sensibly.
Occassionally you may get a cop asking you for a bribe, but it is just a price you have to pay for living in Mexico. You certainly won't have to fight
your way into any neighborhood, despite the crap posted above.
If you plan on acting like a bum in Mexico, taking drugs etc. you may have problems.
If you plan on keeping a low profile, going to the supermarket, walking around dressed smartly, no drunken behavior or drugs, you will have no
problems.
Personally, I think Playas has the edge over Rosarito. You can find bargains, why not share an apartment with others and save some cash? If you plan
on living by yourself then $300 a month may be the cheapest. It is just a matter of spending a few days in Playas and searching around.
By the way, a 30 year old gringo can have a lot of fun in Tijuana, you will be much in demand from the local chicas. I certainly was.

Think nothing of it.
Why don't you tell us what it's like to live in Centro. I'm betting none of us know and you've already done it. Enlighten us, please.

You know what.. get a life and leave me alone please, you are bothering and harrassing me, and I have done nothing to you to deserve it. Instead of
warning me agaianst moving to TJ I should have been warned of the dangers of asking for advice on this board.. Its Brutal...
I asked for advice on what area, and I have been told I was running games, asked if I was HIV Positive, made fun of, harrassed, etc... All I did was
ask a question, SORRY FOR THAT! YouSome of you have nothing better to do than be JERKS!! But some on here have been very nice!

MexicoGringoGuy,
Try to contact FDT here. He lives in Tijuana and would be a valuable resource in your search of neighborhoods. Others that have offered up advice to
you don't live in Baja and some don't even visit Baja either.
The suggestion re Ensenada from those that live down there is something you should consider though, IMHO.
Good Luck
Ken
