OK, my turn---------------I've owned several dogs-------------we NEVER allowed them in the house, let alone on the "bed". Sleeping with animals
appears somewhat, errrrrr how do I say this-------------primitive????
If I knew that dogs had been in my prospective Motel room and on the bed, I would not stay there-----period.
It seems elemental, to me. I cannot think of any excuse for a dog to be on a bed, other than it sneaking up there when nobody was looking----------I
feel the same about them being on any other piece of furniture, too.
So you see, some of us have very strong feelings about this.

I've been staying at Baja Cactus for many many years. Never by reservations. (this never works with our traveling schedules) So occasionally, we
don't get to stay there. I vote for the dogs to stay in the "cheaper" rooms. In fact. why can't they stay in their cars/trucks. ?
I vote for extra charge for pet owners/travelors. I also wouldn't have a problem with a $5.00 increase rate overall!!!!! This motel IS without a
doubt a sign of Antonio's 'classy' personality. Hoping he add's on to this motel very soon.

What is more disgusting: sleeping on a bed where a dog slept or sleeping on a bed where humans had sex? Having sex on hotel beds is disgusting. They
should charge more for rooms that allow sex. 5 dollars more, or maybe 10. You know what is even more disgusting? Farting in a hotel bed. They should
charge for that too. 5 dollars per fart. If you're going to do anything other than fart-free sleeping in the bed while wearing clean pajamas, with
booties, please do so in your car or truck. Walking on the hotel floor with bare feet is disgusting...

Oh Jeez! You've priced me out for future visits, Pack. I can't afford being disgusting any longer.

Sex is disgusting? Nah. Just make sure to do it out in your vehicle along where the dog is kept.

Question and Commentary
The Question:
Are the bedcovers not washed along with the rest of the dirty linen after each use? If not, then when? Sorry, this does raise some concern over
hygiene standards within the hotel industry.
We have traveled with our dogs and have been graciously welcomed into Baja Cactus with them. The dogs' own sleeping pads come with them; the dogs
never, never ever get on the hotel bed or furniture.
Thank you for changing the laundry detergent. The overwhelming scent of the cleaners previously in use caused me allergies and sinus congestion.
We have to travel the peninsula several times a year; we're not vacationers and are on a strict budget. We thank you for offering your hospitality at
a rate that is affordable to us.
Don Antonio, I thank you for your motel. We've stayed there frequently throughout the years and have great respect and appreciation of your vision.

Pet etiquette and yuck factor aside, there are many folks who are simply allergic to pet dander. If hoteliers wish to dedicate certain rooms for pets,
that's fine. But make sure you are strict with the policy. Same goes for smoking. Can't even count the number of times I've encountered a so-called
non-smoking room that stunk from smoke. Just because there are no ash trays, doesn't guaranty that no one has smoked in the room.
For the record, I smoke. but NEVER indoors.

Not sure about Baja but in the U.S. hotel/motel bed spreads and blankets are not washed daily as are sheets/pillowcases/towels, nor are they generally
washed after each guest's stay. Few years back I read a report which said that a surprising amount of bacteria and feces are found on such
bedspreads and blankets. Creeped me out.

Never fear, Nena-----------exposure to "things" like this is what keeps our immune system active and up to date, I hear. There are some things best
not looked into too closely, lest we become really paranoid, and freaked out.

YOu rarely see the bedspreads hanging on the lines where hotels hang their laundry...so I usually take off the bedspreads when I get into the room.
I have now switched to using bedspread covers that are easier to wash than a bedspread in the rentals. I too suffer from allergies to cleaning
solutions and get all stuffed up in most hotel rooms that use the strong stuff....I usaully have my own sheets to put on hotel beds so I dont itch all
night.

The reason Antonio stresses to dog owners to keep dogs on the floor is that there are no dry cleaning SERVICES or washing machines large enough in El
Rosario to launder the bed spreads... exactly as Nena says (above)...
The floor is tile and is mopped...
I fear that Antonio's kindness to dog owners may come to an end, after hearing how his rules about no dogs on his motel beds are not respected by 'his
friends' on Nomad... What does that tell you about the non-Nomads who stay there and don't have the same respect for this great man who has been so
kind to us?
Maybe as long as the older/ commercial rooms are available... only those for dogs? One thing for sure... you can't please all the people, all the
time!

Although our dog is allowed on the bed at home, he would never be on the bed in a hotel or in someone else's house. He's spent many nights on the
floor at Baja Cactus, very happily.
I hope the dog owners who do allow their pets on hotel beds will think again about this, and not spoil things for the good doggies

I try to keep my pets off the bed in a motel but sometimes they defy me. That is why I always remove the bed spread from the bed as soon as I enter
the room......I wouldn't want my pets exposed to the filth that motel bed spreads can contain, only the sheets are exposed to the animals which are
washed after I check out......the sheets, not the animals....dt
