Now see there Jesse, I knew you liked me! Stop pretending you don’t like me! Just to show you there are no hard feelings on my humble part I am going to induct you into the Elinvesti8 Taser Hall of Fame.

Jesse, someday I want to come to your place incognito of course to eat some of your good cooking. Can you please post a photograph of something you prepared and ready for presentation.

Thank you!

David

La Jungla..The Jungle..Jungle Jims...Barts Place

All one and the same.

Does ANYONE but me recall when the place was called Steve and Alma's? Paco and Rosie's? And way, way back when the little cubicles/coops were in use? Am I sounding like an oldtimer? Shut me up, please...

Above. The Jungla as seen when coming off the highway. PREPARE YOURSELF for the damdest bumpiest incline in Baja. When will someone please pave this stretch? My cup holders fail this road test every time...

FOOD...??

You may even meet some famous people here...

Yes, another old timer here. I remember those days and when Steve and Alma had the "Jungla Bambu" further upriver just past the bridge. Seems to me they took over that nice little location from the gal who had a pizza place there. She was a little eccentric as I recall. But then, aren't we all---

Bahia Magdalena may be Spanish for FRESH SEAFOOD. Bay scallops (callo Catarina) here are only just shelled a couple of blocks away and haven't ever even been refrigerated. What a difference in flavor from the frozen ones in most places.

Took a big still quivering dorado filet into Tio Lupe's and he fixed it 5 ways for me. Oh my.

La Cocedora De Longosta, Ensenada

At the fishmarket complex in Ensenada. Lobster is very popular there, but we sampled some other choices. Excellent!!!!!!!!

That was back when it was legal and there were so many turtles 'you could walk on their backs across to Sonora'!

Too bad God made turtles taste so good... I sure hope their numbers come back so they can be enoyed again (legally)!

Saul's La Palapa roadside cafe - Mulege

Across the highway from the Pemex station south of Mulege.

La Palapa

Great old time palapa cafe, views of ocean, good food....great host.

I've eaten at Saul's more than a hundred times over the years. I have always had a good dinner or a delicious quick snack..like these shrimp c-cktails... plus it is handy being right on the highway..

Roger- I think for better effect, you should take a photo BEFORE you eat. I've never had the pleasure of eating here, but dirty dishes and flatware isn't convincing me that i should.

El Patron - Mulege

In Mulege take the north river road. Through the town center, past the fire station, past Saul's Market, past Gringo's pangas and outboard shop, past the dead horse,

past Pancho Villas (ANOTHER GREAT MULEGE CAFE!!) and then you will run dead into

EL PATRON - LA ALMEJA BARBADA..and your host, Tim.

Great place to sit outside, sip a margarita and slug down a cold Pacifico, eat some killer Clams Rockerfeller on the half shell, and catch a roosterfish or dorado from your chair. The ocean is that close after Jimena!
