Okay.... Fishbuck, When you first started on this board, you were kind and helpful, ......as I recall, you were a "newbie" ( 2006 was it?) with helpful information and a pleasure to this board that many of us had been on for years before you. I don't know what has happened lately, but, you seen to be angry and attacting people that you first thougt as friends, you have attacted me several times not knowing me, not a problem, I don't really care, but. when you attack someone's Mother, you have gone too far.

I don't give a rat's butt.............go ahead and attact me all you want to............apoligize to Jean's for the comment about her Mother. Man up.

Mean people suck!

I don't have a dog in this fight, so I am impartial,... your posts really seem way out of line -- you sound like a whack job when you attack people like that :(

Soulpatch
I have been a DAN member for about 20 years, have never had to use their services but I did call and talk to them. I explained that I "travel" to Baja, Mexico alot and would they come and get me or my wife in an emergency? They said that what they need is a doctor to call and describe the situation and verify that the necessary medical care is not available at this location and that the patient needs to transported to a better facility. I explained that baja is "remote" and that a doctor is not always on hand but that I am a retired firefighter/emt and would that make any difference? She said that was fine and that what they needed on scene was someone that could describe in medical terms to their doctors what the medical emergency was and also what medical services are available at that location.
I felt much better about being a DAN member after that conversation. I hope you check it out for yourself and let me know what they tell you.
They also said that if evacuation is necessary they will contact one of the local services that they deal with and dispatch them. Of course the plane cannot land at an unlighted field after dark, and depending on the type of plane that is sent down they may not be able to use a dirt strip, so all that type of info needs to be told to them before they fly down so they can send the proper type of plane for the conditions.
Here is their website: http://www.diversalertnetwork.org/
Let me know what you find out.
Larry
PS this is from their website:

Actually anyone can join and participate in the travel insurance. If you are a SCUBA diver and want the hyperbaric facility insurance then there is an extra charge for that.

Evacuation from Gonzaga

I had the opportunity to talk to "Doug" the source of all of this post.
As I said before, some people do not have correct information and either have created it in their mind or received it from an unreliable source.
1. Doug, did NOT have a surgery to remove any part of his stomach, intestine, bowel, lower , upper GI, pure nonesense.
2. He did NOT have a colostomy or a bag. Wikipedia: colostomy bag?
3. He had emergency evacuation insurance, however they would not come get him because of the inclimate weather, high winds, blowing sand ect..
4. The services of Celia were employed and she contacted the U.S. Coast Guard.
5. The Coasties have a rather strict protocol for emergency evacuations; life threateneing, no other srvices available, last resort, ect. Once these criteria were met they dispatched their rescue units.
Doug is very greatful to Cecelia and her group stating: "she must have a halo this big (indicating approximately 3 feet)around her head."
I am still amazed at some of the vindicativeness that appears on tis forum.

I just don't understand any of this. I've been reading this board for some time. There are a whole herd of Nomads who have insisted that the Mexican medical system is just as good, or superior, to the US. What kind of an emergency did this poor man have that he could not be treated in La Paz or Cabo San Lucas? He could have been in a hospital in either city hours before a Coast Guard plane could have picked him up and flown him all the way to Yuma.

Does this mean the U.S. Coast Guard has made the decision that the Mexican medical system is so deficient, and the Mexican doctors so lacking in ability, that the only alternative is to spend $100,000 to fly this man out of Baja.

Where's BajaGabacho or that longlegged person to explain this conundrum?

Apparently you don't have a clue where Gonzaga Bay is nor do you have a clue what you are talking about.

The misinformation that Jim lists in numbers 1,2 &3 were indeed originated by some folks here.

As to numbers 4 & 5, that is exactly as I reported it, three times in this string! And yet this story continues to spiral with no apparent end other than the accurate one reported here by Jim. Celia will gladly give accurate information if you have any questions. That is where I got mine.

Go to the source instead of endless jibberjabberjumbalayajuiceinyourjockeyshorts. That has to be an uncomfortable load to waddle around with. <<<<<So let it end with a preposition:o:rolleyes::lol:
