Wooosh, I was just reading about the 1982-1983 El Nino (strongest one in 100 years) and it's impact on Rosarito Beach. It did significant damage, major erosion, and I know it trashed Playas de Tijuana. I've heard what's beachfront now in TJ was the second row of buildings then, don't know if that's true tho. Anyway, if that happens again that new tower will be severely damaged if not completely undermined.

You mentioned it's on an old foundation. How old and what was there before?

This is about the 1997-98 and 1982-83 El Ninos.

I stayed up all night for the last El Nino (96?). That building would take a hit for sure. Just never know how long you would have to wait. We have had unusually high tides this year. It is probably already has a bit of damage. I wonder why it remains unoccupied? Other than the obivous reasons. Duh!

I think a lot of nomads have learned that the mexican rules will always prevail here.

you are correct Rico. The 97-98 storms took away the first row of lots in our Fracciamento. These lots are the current problem. The condo was built on two residential foundations. The long version of the video had the lotification maps... the ocean always wins. I'll post the Spanish version of that video again when it is done (YouTube user is bajalabs to search of videos).

If they had built the tower out of block- it would be good for it to fall over. But they used steel studs and regular drywall- just more beach trash when it goes. But the neighborhood behind it will go first- the street is going already.

thanks.

Thanks K-rico, seems like yesterday. Dry reading, but those engineers can work those numbers and spreadsheets like nobody else!

They didn't bite on the sanitized short version. AFN likes a little controversy I guess- went with the violence, PGJE and police corruption and the long version. We took the clip of the policeman hugging the squatter out of the video- everything else stayed. I'd like my cremains interred in the fountain of the Rosarito house where those of my parents and dogs are please...

800 views and climbing! Today I am recharged! A nomad had told me the lady I am having problems with filed a court action in 2006 against the neighborhood. To find out what this was about I had to go to a secluded place where I guess the judges hang out- the Jusgados. It is a newer cement and glass building perched up on a hill across from the Sharp factory in Rosarito. Talk about a secure location not wanting to be bothered by anyone.

Anyway a lady there looked up the case and came out to talk with me. She said the case involved some gangsters, not the land. She said if I knew their name of the cholos she could give me the information. I told her I wasn't interested in seeing the report if it wasn't related to the land issue and I thanked her and started to leave. She could see I was frustrated I guess because she stopped me she stopped me from leaving , and brought me to her office in the back where we talked in detail about my problem. She told me my case never made it up the hill to the judges. She made me a deal. She would watch the video at home and asked me to go back to the PGJE in Rosarito to find out the exact status of the case. Then she asked me to come back to see her today and she would advise me what to do next. How cool is that lady? I told her all I really wanted was for the PGJE to talk to the Police Officer Tila Ortiz had asked to hire someone to hurt us. He's willing and ready to talk so I hope the video will re-open the case and they will talk with him. Little by little the struggle for justice continues...
