When WalMart is the only retailer left, they'll be able to charge anything they want.

When they start talking about Palestine, I'll sell my stock.

By the way...what do Palestinians do? Do they work or just ride around in pick-up trucks throwing rocks at everything?

New store is open- not a Walmart

This new store is open now in Constitución, but it's not a Walmart. It's called "Bodega Aurrera" which is apparently a subsidiary of Walmart de Mexico. It's on Hwy #1, about a block north of the turn off to San Carlos.

It's set up to look like a warehouse store but items are not sold in bulk so it's deceiving at first. It's really just a regular grocery store with a warehouse look.

Refers, stoves, electronics etc looked like very poor quality. One or two sheets to choose from that would fall apart with the first wash.

Same food that I'd just seen at Super Ley and less cheese and dairy selection. The bakery had great looking loafs of fresh french bread but I don't think they've hired their full staff yet because the line for the bakery wasn't worth the wait. The meat looked good but not a big selection.

Produce was pretty good looking compared to Super Ley whose shelves were bare - (Sunday must be a big shopping day there because Mondays are usually slim pickins).

Prices at Bodega compared to Ley or Walmart in La Paz? Not a big difference on the items I compared- some a little less and some a bit more.

All in all, the same items they have at Super Ley but less of a selection. Maybe they're just getting off the ground and will improve. Still no light mayo, good salad dressing, apricot jam, or decent raisins or cat food and litter in Constitución.

the most fantastic super store like complex i have ever seen was at San Jose Los cabos a few blocks walk off the entrance to Cabo Azul. i forgot the name - Judy might know? big lot and i think blue ext motif.
i walked there loaded up and took a $5 cab ride back to our condo.
the food and deli was mind blowing.
the liquor and wines selection immense.
the fresh meats and seafoods incredible.
i can't wait to go back, it will be 3 years this next week.
