here's the skinny...

pilot wanted to take some pix.
thot co pilot was at helm.
co pilot was not "aware" of this "plan" and was not on the stick or paying particular attention.

classic case of "i thot YOU were flying it!"

settled it into the water when out of spool up time.

Mexican nationals.
soon to flying for some mexican airline likely....enjoy your travels...hahahahaha

Mike, that is exactly the story that unfolded the day of the mishap.

The untold story & greatest blessing was a class of school children under the palapas just 20 meters or so from where the aircraft came to rest.

Aircraft was leased to a company in Toluca.

Never a Lost Cause ?

I received a pic from my son of an aircraft that they're in the process of rebuilding at the facility he's working for.

He had titled it "Where to Start" ?

I wouldn't have a clue.

I Guess NOTHING'S impossible.

Cessna 303

Which I'm not really familiar with, but it doesn't seem to be that much of a Standout. Limited numbers built because it wasn't that popular.

One thing he did say was that the pic comes AFTER they had removed a lot of the interior prior to the restoration.

It MUST make some kind of economic sense for the owner to spend the money.

I guess.
