No innocent people?
"In early August, worried that her vehicles were known to the authorities and fearful of being tracked, La China ordered logistics man El Tyson to buy
a pickup truck.
El Tyson organised for two of his parents’ friends to meet with La China, but when they arrived to sell their vehicle the narco boss had them murdered
rather than pay."

And, considering La Paz's population is about 1/10th (or less) of Chicago's, and their drug habits at least as equal if not less so, I'd take La Paz
for a vacation than the Windy City.
However, neither is going to happen in the remainder of my lifetime; Mulegé is plenty big enough for me; Sta. R. is 'The Big-enough City' for me; you
Cabo Wobblers and Ensenadiacs can keep the hordes at bay for me. One trip to Loreto a year is enough also... maybe two.

Gloom, doom, etc....
Reference Phoenix during the freeway shootings, it seems far more statistically likely to run into problems on the city streets in the attempt to
avoid the shooter.I took the freeway. Maybe I am just a little loco. Haha
Oh, and I agree that some here probably don't go to Mexico anyway.

2 of the recent killings in La Paz are presumed to be innocent people killed by mistake. On the 25th an 18 year old was shot outside a convenience
store in colonia La Fuente. The other , a 30 year old was shot on the 26th in colonia Indeco by a fruit stand.

That's a shame. Creeps killing other creeps is a bad thing. Innocent people dying, much worse.
Before folks start posting New Orleans or Chicago statistics, keep in mind gun violence is new to La Paz. Therefore the discussion.

the rumor I have heard is last month the killings dropped to 2.
And as a factoid, from LaVentana to LaPaz they have removed the gov checkpoint, that always had 3 branches of enforcement, military, city and federal
so that it would be harder to have everyone involved. That checkpoint had been there since hurricane Odile.
I also do not see the military at various chokepoints in the city of LaPaz now.
So I am guessing the rumor may be true that only 2 deaths in LaPaz last month.

There was an article not too long ago in BCSnoticias that talked about how one cartel has taken over.

That would explain the drop in violence

I watched the new movie, "Sicario", recently....well-done film that was fairly gritty....that suggested stability would resume once the Columbians
were back in control.....or something like that.
It was un-nerving last January when I was gassing up in Vizcaino and a fellow walked by my pickup with my moto in the back, looked at it and me, and
made some comment to the female attendant at the pump that clearly had the word "sicario" in his comment referring to me and my rig....she gave him a
look of disapproval in response to his comment.
I decided to do a rather lazy drive through town in no particular direction for 10 minutes before continuing north....but was a bit nervous for the
trip up to GN wondering if I was a potential hijack victim....
Times like that I wish my Spanish was better.
Don't believe everything you think....

La Paz or Paris....That's a tough one! All citys are prone unless you are from B. C. where all is bliss.
