Thanks, will take that advice and travel light.

Continuing to research the area. Someone told me Detroit Lake was very nice. It's about 1.5 from Bend.

Checked it out on Google Earth and it looks great. They rent small boats there. Anyone been out on the lake?

Up 395 east of Carson city check out Virgina City. Above Susanville go to Likely Place Golf and Rv park. They have cabins avail. on a beautiful Golf Coarse. several area lakes and pet friendly.
Fun place in that area.

Go up the 395N through Tahoe and come back along the coast.

What are the must sees?

Crater lake is a must see. The coast is very a beautiful drive if you are not in a hurry.

My home is about 40 miles south of the Oregon border near Mt. Shasta city, CA. I would strongly recommend postponing your trip to Oregon. We have been buried in smoke from all the fires for the last three weeks. In fact all National Forests are closed to entry. There are many, many, beautiful places to see here in Northern California and many parts of Oregon. Portland, Oregon is being ruined by the rioters (to hell with them). My suggestion is try Northern California and Oregon next year during September or early October when the skies are clear. The Temperatures will be beautiful and the Oregon coast will have much less fog if you travel that direction. Oregon folks are great and many are Baja snowbirds. Good Luck !!
