Convenience Store Beer
You've got me there. I probably haven't bought a six-pack of beer in a convenience store in the last Ten Years and rarely before that. The
outrageous price they charged really peeed me off.
Nowadays, I'm usually only in the U.S. for a week or so each month so an 18-pack of MGD from Vons lasts for months
Now, of course, I'll look the next time I'm at the 7-11.

Ray, you mean to say that it takes you longer than fifteen seconds to drink a beer? Slacker. Maybe you need a beer bong.

Yeah, I'm a 'slacker' when it comes to drinking beer...
...True, those first couple of 'swigs' are 'de rigor' to cut down the 'dust'...after that, some well tilted 'sips' are needed to enjoy the brew at
hand...
I'm far from a wine or brew 'snob'...but some slow sips are needed to really enjoy a cool brew - that Man Show 'ziffy, ziggy, down the hatch doesn't
do it for me!
Drinking a brew is no big thing, but I still like to enjoy each and every one...never know when it may be your last!

I congratulate you on your apparent lack of need for a beer NOW!
The working man's summer end of day ritual here in 115 degree Yuma is to pick up a six of "Boodlait" and a small can of Clamato at the convenience
store, pour the first one over one's head, take a deep slug of the second, then add clamato for a "Border Mary".

Oso, I am happy that we agree in principle on Chretins !!
Although it's not the worst that we have tried, it ranks up there !!
We were in Laughlin a couple months ago and needed to get outa the Casino. A ride into "Bullhead City" was our downfall.
We stopped at a nice looking Mexican Rest. and almost died getting outa there. Another one at the top of imitation Mexican food chain .

Oso...I've never been able to get into...
...that 'Clamato' thing! Why screw up some perfectly good tomato juice with some bivalves that belong in a good chowder?
I enjoy all three ingredients, but not together - YUK! Beer isn't beer when you start 'cutting' it with other nefarious ingredients!
Keep it pure out there!
BTW, how's things in Yuma these days? We've got some Oregon Amigos, Rick & Leslie, that have a place out 95, around the 'bend' where it turns to
the north...Rick pumps septic tanks while they winter there, to keep busy...they also have a palapa next to us down at Naranjos on Concepción - good
people.

Oso...been here lately?
...Have they fixed up the "Down Town" mess, yet? Most of the business' there were really hurting when we down there last November - how long does it
take to pave a few blocks?

When it's the City doing it? Apparently a really long time. The first block, where the movie theater and Monarch's Rest are, is finished. But the
next one, in front of Lute's & up to the fountain, not quite. It's "almost" done. Maybe next month. Yuma is expanding exponentially, claims to
be fastest growing area in the nation.
I agree about not adding anything to GOOD beer. But with "Butt Wipe" I don't think it matters WHAT you put in it. I sometimes put lemon juice and
salt on the rim of a TKT can. This started when they were the first Mex beer in cans- steel cans. It helped kill the metallic taste. I never put a
slice of lime or lemon in the neck of a beer bottle. Filthy habit. I always look first before chugging a Mexican bottled beer. Got one once with a
nice moldy blue slice of lemon peel inside.

I love Pacifico and drink it up north a lot; but, tend to drink Tecate more often than not when down south and often at home. I reluctanly tried a
Tecate Light (when there was no other choice) and was pleasantly surprized.
My opinions/memories.
Best (crafted) beer in Mexico is Negra Modelo - is a great beer; but, a little dark and heavy for more than one or two.
Best beer memory in Mexcio: Drinking Carta Blancas while standing on the rear platform of the train from Puebla to Oaxaca. It was a 10 hour ride
with spectacular scenery. I was the only gringo on the train, great trip, great trackside food, and great locals. (Train was shut down for good only
months later.)
Cheapest beer bought in Mexico: Pacifico in Mazatlan for 3 pesos each(1996). Great little place across the beach, next to my cheapie hotel, near the
bus station.
