Dogs, fireworks, gringos, books and fishing gear should all be banned from Mexico. They all can cause pain and suffering to my inner child.
But tequila...thats a horse of a different feather!

Bring them and shoot them off responsibly. Unless Mr Bill is around, in that case aim directly for him and keep firing repeatedly.

Don't forget to clean up

Bothering the Neighbors

I used to have a crazy old (retired Army Sergeant) neighbor in Baja who would get infuriated over many things. Fireworks set off (especially by other neighbors) was high on his list. As a consequence, he would collect his Urine in plastic Jugs in his garage and, whenever an event occurred that angered him, he'd wait until nobody was around and douse the neighbors residences.

From time to time questions would come up, but I kept his secret. Although it wasn't something I'd do, it was understandable and a great Hoot.

Revenge is ALWAYS a satisfying feeling and as they say, Best served Cold.

And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

So much....good? information here. I had to go back to the first post to remember what the question was.

Didn't see any replys or thanks from the original poster. Guess they got scared off.

Some questions are received here with "SHOCK AND AWE". Just blow the crap out of it and it'll go away. :O

When I first saw this post, I opted not to open it up because I personally have no interest in fireworks but when it reached 3 pages, I figured something must be going on. It is a great psychological assessment tool where it becomes pretty easy to figure out those who want their world ordered and neat and anything that expands that creates great discomfort, while others are a little more laid back and allow others their fun but will avoid things that they find slightly offensive (even though this is an expanded perception) and then those on the really loose end that are clamoring for "Bring it all on". Sure does liven up a rather boring topic.

Patches

I mentioned the Urine example because I thought it might be of use to someone at some later date.

"Patch" seems to think that I was referring to myself. Once again, he's wrong. Not that I think it was a bad idea. Somehow, though, the collection process seems a little distasteful and requires more longterm committment than I would care for. As a retribution method for me at that time, it's downside would have been that the "incidents" would coincide with my trips and tend to point in my direction. Old Sarge Dee had the advantage of being the only fulltime resident in that area at the time with the ability to pick his moment. Now, that I'm around most of the time and have mellowed with age, the "problem" neighbors are long gone and so is Dee.

That said, I see nothing wrong with his approach. In my younger years, I often used that methodology with different chemicals. I once had the Landlord from Hades and, when I moved out, during the night I poisoned all of his beloved trees and Shrubs with Ortho Triox. Driving by many times later, I loved seeing those trees and shrubs slowly die. Revenge is sweet.

I've found over the years that confronting these people rarely works out well, especially those who are setting off BOMBS nearby. They already know that they're bothering others. That's part of their motivation. The conversations usually go straight South. Unless you're willing to end up in a brawl, complaints either go unheeded OR (as I've seen often) it encourages them to greater excess.

Anyway, for those like me who don't want to stockpile Urine for these occasions, other items available cheaply at Home Depot or an Auto Parts store are: Pool Chlorine, Muriatic Acid (one of my favorites) and Sulphuric acid (for car batteries). The Sulphuric acid works GREAT on car finishes. Be especially careful with the Muriatic Acid in the presence of ANY metallic items. You can find yourself engulfed in a cloud of potentially deadly gas. I found out the hard way that a tiny amount of metal can do the job.

Enjoy those Fireworks Safely, Sanely and away from non-participants.

I can't believe you just said that! While I admit the THOUGHT of revenge is sweet, what you are suggesting is just plain mean, not to mention illeagal.

I once had a neighbor smile and brag to me about how he fed another neighbors dog glass-laced dogfood and watched it suffer a slow agonizing death.

Was that you Bill?:?:

I Beg your Indulgence and Understanding

Paraphrasing Claude Rains, I'm sure that you are Shocked to hear someone suggest something that would be illegal.

Consider me properly Chastened.

Although I rarely have occasion to do anything of that sort in recent years (well, more rarely anyway), I would have to confess that my youthful years were more replete with vindicative revengeful acts that some would consider improper. Luckily, I was fortunate to use prudence in performing those acts and never ran directly afoul of any lawful redress. As Billy once said, "Close, but no Cigar". Like many (or so I believe) if ALL of my illegal acts had been punished, I may have spent a long time (as opposed to none) behind bars.

Seriously, though, I sincerely believe that, as long as the other person is guilty of the initial offense, what happens to them in retribution is justified (without limits). After all, they made that choice. That has been my "Golden Rule" and it's worked out pretty well all things considered.

As I close in on the Day of Judgement, I do spend more time in retrospection pondering how some of my previous life might be judged. There is the possibility that my assessment of Right, Wrong and Justice MAY NOT be agreed with. Depending on who among the Religious and Non-Religious turns out to be correct, I could be in for a LONG Uncomfortable time. Unfortunately, it's too late once you find that out.

Speaking of Justice and Retribution, years ago I purchased many books from Palladin Press, among others, regarding various Firearms and modifications, cooking up chemicals and other inspirational tomes on "Getting Even", etc. I just checked and they're still in business and still offering various manuals on those subjects. It's worth a look if you're interested.

BTW, I would NEVER harm a dog. As I've said again and again, I've met far more dogs in my life that I like than I have people. Dogs represent some of God's best work. Cats, on the other hand, ..............? But I wouldn't even harm one of them. I once found a cat in the road that had been hit and took it home long enough to nurse it back to health and give it away to a friend before it ate all of my speaker wires like the last one did.

Be Safe.

Being Italian I am familiar with vendetta and have always served it up very cold.

Fun and Games

One of the few positive things to result from the Freedom of Information Act was the publishing of volumes of information the U.S. government had developed, at the Frankford Arsenal and elsewhere, on improvised destructive devices for the CIA to distribute to insurgents. That Freedom of Information distribution resulted in three manuals detailing the home production of devices using readily available materials.

Another great publication is a reprint of a manual developed and distributed by the Minuteman Militia group in the 1950s which includes detailed drawings for home production of a .45ACP Submachine Gun along with instructions for producing Nitroglycerin. Back in the 1980s, Firepower Magazine (devoted to Full-Auto weapons) used those drawings to actually produce a copy of the weapon built along the lines of the M-3. The downside to the weapon was that, when it was designed, M-3 parts were in huge surplus and the 30-round magazine readily available. That is no longer the case, but prompted by the article, I ordered (4) of those magazines which are still in storage, just in case.

I never worked up the courage to try the Nitroglycerin recipe. Readily available ingredients and a simple process, but extremely sensitive to any production errors. Hate to blow up the wife's kitchen (and myself).

For any of those who Do wish to try the Nitro process (especially Bus and Bunco), the recipe is all over the Internet. Give it a try and report back.

Better than Fireworks.

I see that palladin no longer carries Mr Benson's best books regarding improvised explosive devices like "homemade C-4" and "homemade blasting caps"

It would be foolish to try the nitro recipe when so many better ANFO formulations are around. Nice, easy, common chemicals and stable.

Besides high concentration sulfuric acid like you would need for the nitro is hard to get and very nasty to work with.

Fortunately it is still relatively easy to purchase 60% dynogel sticks of dynamite in some western sates by simply filling out the required ATF form and showing a drivers lic.

Lots of fun

As licensed pyrotechnics's and blasters ( the latter expired ) My wife and I had many a memorable time with high energy compounds.

We used to buy our dynamite from Burt's explosives in Prescott valley AZ.

We continue to get all our pyrocompounds from skylighter ( we like to make our own fireworks)

Black powder in 10Lb lots from powder inc.

The last two ship UPS

Our favorite effect:
4 sticks 60% Dynogel, 1 blasting cap 0 delay, 20 gallons gasoline, 4 tablespoons black powder, pinch of dextrin ( binder ), 1 tablespoon potassium nitrate (slows down the BP), 1.5 tablespoons sponge titanium, two 55 gallon drums stacked and buried in the ground, one 6" length of ABS pipe capped on one end, buried in the ground about 10ft away from the drums and angled to intersect a point about 15 ft directly above the drums.......It makes a truly stupendous simulation of an atomic fireball.

Can I hire you to do the fireworks at my 50th BD?!

I still dream of the day (night) when I can see live the effect of the above 'recipe'. Give the wife and baby a hug from us left coasters!

You have got to get together with the Pyros on the Locos crew guys from Nor Cal. They have created some pretty respectable "mushroom clouds" with their antics at our remote pits. :O

Sounds like fun gadget...i wonder if they attend the western winter blast held each year near quartzite.

The best week in pyro is the annual pyrotechnicians guild meet. Different location each year. Pyro masters from all over the world come to compete and show off. It is one hell of a week and you will see things you will never see in a "regular" show.
Some of these 16 - 24 inch shells take over a month to build and we need special FAA clearance to launch them. The bursts can be about 2,500 feet in diameter with many changing colors and effects.
Members only during the week but we put on a public display the last night that is awesome.

BTW not all fireworks need to be loud. some pretty decent cremora fireballs can be made and there is only a whoosh sound with a mild thump kinda like a fresh cut tree hitting soft ground.

Do a google image search under cremora fireball to see what I mean. cheap and fairly safe. Not loud at all.
