What is a Tinaco?

Thanks

A Tinaco is the black water tank you see elevated in the photos. A pila is in/on the ground - not suspended in the air.

Is it sturdy? Who besides the builder really knows but not a design I would have followed. But what do I know???

I do prefer the way our tinacos are set which is quite different. However, in our town, the design showed here seems to be the most common and I do not think any have fallen in the earthquakes or the winds.

Then again, next earthquake or wind storm, I hope I won't be standing anywhere near any of them.:lol:

I wouldn't be overly concerned about winds, but wouldn't have much confidence for those things in the photos, to handle major horizontal surface movement if the right kind of earthquake hit. It's like an inverted pendulum...

Good thing the local quakes have been very loud, but not been major in movement. I can just visualize one of those starting to sway---yikes!
